Replacing rear bumper.. how difficult?

Hello,

Could someone please explain what it takes to replace the rear bumper (time, risk of breaking something important, cost)? Looks like replacements are around $150-200 off ebay.

I've installed plugless before so I know all about taking that rear diffuser panel off on the bottom of the car.. but I have a reason to possibly cut a giant hole in the rear bumper for a special custom feature (it will be a surprise)

The only way I'll make this modification is if I know I can revert back to normal fairly easily. (I'll likely make the mod to a junk bumper, not the existing one)

The hardest part is painting the new bumper to match. Since the one you're modding is the "junk" one I assume you don't care if it matches very well.

If it's the same color (glossy black) I don't think it would really matter much
