Hey all.
My name is David Raboy and I am a Ford Ranger EV owner and another sad "Pending" Black SL order
Also I think there was some brief mention of the site here on the boards, but thought you would like some background.
Some of you know me from saving the last of the Ranger Evs up in Sacramento back in 04' and also co-founder of PluginAmerica. A few of you I met at the PluginAmerica party last month. I am working on a new project allowing anyone to submit charging station locations and other useful information about those locations. Of course our Leafs will have some charger info, but at our http://electric.carstations.com website (and coming mobile app, which will allow you to update locations on the fly) we are aiming to capture the other useful data, like pictures, how many chargers, what type, restaurants nearby, entertainment, etc. We also aim to capture the stations that Nissan and others will have no clue about, like campgrounds, other NEMA 14-50 locations, other dealerships, other manufacturers, etc.
We have many sites being submitted already, but really want to get ahead of things as AV dealer installs are happening now. Thus if there are dealers out there or users that have already been to some dealers, please start submitting the sites. We even have a video tutorial on the site or you can ping me. Dealers, feel free to put in a plug about yourself and what's around your dealership. We already have a couple Toyota dealers up Same for other folks, please submit sites as this will help the entire community. As a private residence, if you want to consider yourself a "public" charging station, feel free to submit it with your phone or email and maybe a disclaimer about calling ahead to arrange something. We already have had someone do this. We realize there are and have been other efforts out there, but we feel like we have a good looking site(it's been in live beta for about a month), more information is better and easier if in one place and we can quickly change and update the site as we go along. We are also maintaining a blog at the main site of http://www.carstations.com. If some of you have some personal stories about EV's and/or dealer stories, give us a buzz as we would love to post it.
As noted above, we plan on having a mobile application and other social networking goodies!
thanks for you time and help.
