Hello, I just bought a Schneider Electric EVlink ESVE from home depot.

It comes with one J1722 plug. The problem I have is: I need to charge my Leaf inside the garage and sometimes outside the garage.

The question I have is:

Can I buy one more J1772 plug with cable and connect both plugs (the original one comes with Schneider and the new one) to Schneider Electric EVlink ESVE?

The thinking is if I can do that I can install the ESVE and one plug inside the garage. Then I will drill a hole in the garage wall and put the other plug outside.

I will make sure anytime only one of the plugs will be used.

What do you think? Thanks so much.

Sounds like you could use either of these:

http://shop.quickchargepower.com/JLONG-40-Amp-J1772-extension-cable-JL40A.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'd recommend going with the JLong. You probably don't want to make any mods to that brand new Schneider unit that could void your warranty.

Put the EVSE in the corner of the garage and use EV cable under corner of garage door. Note the other plug will be energized when the unit is charging so some sort of cap on the external plug would make for safety argument.

Thanks everyone. The Hydra and ESVE combination is very interesting. If we can have a ESVE built with Hydra, that will be great
