Hi guys,

I can get the Eaton for about $50 more than the Scnheider. It's outdoor rated and has a longer more heavy duty cord. Going to wall mount in garage, but maybe charge in driveway during warmer months. Any reason not to get the Eaton?

Thanks!

You can get a 20A for $499 in Canada from Sun Country Highway, I have a coupon... FYI

I have the Schneider, and I'm not crazy about it. It works fine, never had a problem, but the case is really flimsy. It's difficult to get the front cover off, and it feels like it's going to break. It was a pain to connect the supply cord because there isn't enough room around the holes for the cord connector. I ended up putting the cord connector on the inside, and the lock nut on the outside. The "knockouts" wouldn't knock out, so I had to drill them out with a hole saw.

I own the first gen Schneider and have been very happy with it but mid-garage mounted as we have a 4-car tandem garage. If you plan to mount your EVSE close to the garage door I would go with the outdoor rated one, just as it would be more prone to get wet -- if not you won't need it but then an extra 6 feet of cable might come in handy depending on how your garage is laid out (the links showed the Schneider at 18' but had to dig a bit to see the Eaton at 24'). If you charge outside, with the garage door closed, then you'll need to make a provision for the cord to run under the door as well; just things to think about ... the Eaton looks 'nice' but to me, I'd save the $150 if outdoor rated isn't needed.

I've installed 2 chargers, a AeroVironment and a Bosch power max. Both required a hole saw to make the hole for the conduit fitting. Actually, I had better luck using my unibit.
