Yeah, here in Southern Cal, I got a similar response ($3k-$5k over) from Glendale Nissan and one other dealer I've forgotten. But, when you think about it, this forum is a pretty small echo chamber (eco-echo?). Many dealers don't feel they need to please such a small, albeit well-informed, group. They're going after the thousands of other hand-raisers who don't really grasp the concept of ordering a car off a web-page and making use of the detailed resources of forums like this (time to donate!).
But I've learned a lot by calling around. Some dealers don't post on this forum but are well aware of it and the pricing being offered and might be willing to deal one-on one for a few of the first deliveries.
In SoCal, I've found Leon of Mossy to be up front and knowledgeable; also Danny at Fontana. Gordon at SB Nissan has been very plugged in to the order process as well as ready to consider lower than MSRP.
Santa Monica Nissan at one time promised to match prices. They've been quiet lately, maybe someone can get an update. Cerritos is at MSRP but I appreciate them being up front about it. I'd hate to place my RAQ with Universal and find they changed from +5k to +$6k just for the fun of it.
Some dealers I've spoken clearly dislike the "forum members discounts" being offered. They bad-mouth these dealers when I mention the prices posted on the internet. Perhaps some, like Fontana are getting some pushback from Nissan to cool it a little so they've pulled it from the front of their web page?
I'm still wondering how Nissan will handle the RAQ vs reservation #. It would be kind of nice, if based on your reservation # sequence, your place in line didn't change for 7 days or so. Enough time to go through a few actual dealer quotes without having to rush the process for fear of not making the December cut. Most dealers won't like that. Oh well, we'll find out soon enough.
