SOC-Meter User Guide and Firmware Updates

I an trying to program CAN-Do for an INI file that will allow
you to configure it to better support the SOC-Meter:

1. Set the specific Comm Port(s) your SOC-Meter uses.
2. Set which CAN-bus(es) is/are being Logged.
3. Auto-Log: Automatically begin Logging when CAN-Do starts.
4. Plot the raw data bytes (if desired):
a. in the Selected Color,
b. without Clearing the Graph,
c. just within the selected Message Range.
5. Log to a specified File instead of only to RAM memory.
6. Auto-Increment the File Name each time Logging Starts.
7. Have a "Silent Mode" so that "Progress" (non-Error) messages are not displayed.

If I can get that much working, I will release a new version of CAN-Do.

Last night, starting on firmware F1. 09, I:

1. Added a third value (Real SOC) to Mode 1.
So, now it displays %GIDs, Raw GIDs, and the "Real SOC".

2. Added a third Mode, inhibiting the display of values, for Logging.
It displays "LLS. 1" (LEAF Logging System - one channel) to
reduce the uP load during Logging.

3. Speeded up the start-up, and display the firmware version number
for only one second instead of two seconds.

-----
I still hope to add:

1. Saving the last used Mode, and the selected-value number
in EEPROM so that the GID-Meter will power on with your
preferred value already being displayed.

2. Capture the very-fast CAN Messages that the current
firmware misses, but this might be in a next firmware version.

Feel better, Gary.
Haven't been here much lately, and losing track of people.
But hoping for the best for you.
Looks like I might have business down South again soon, so I'll try to time it around one of the SoCal group meetings.

Thanks, it would be great to see you again.

I intend to test the F1.09 firmware tomorrow, and
post it online this weekend.

Unless you are really interested in seeing the SOC value,
wait for the F1.10 version to come out before opening
up your GID-Meter to re-flash the firmware.

Gary, how do we get this update?

Any guesses about when F1.10 might be released? I am going to send in my Gid Meter for repairs, but figure the best time to do it would be when I can get a firmware update also.

The firmware updates are online at:
http://www.wwwsite.com/puzzles/socmeter/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
which I intend to update later today.

I need to finish testing the Logging.

Usually you would need avrdude software and
an Atmel-compatible JTAG programmer.

I have just posted the F1.09 firmware online.
Primarily, it adds displaying the "Real SOC" percentage.

See: http://www.wwwsite.com/puzzles/socmeter/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

F1.10 should/will improve Logging, but probably not of
much benefit to anybody who does not do Logging,
or a Logger-Person who does not need to get every
last CAN Message.

The present firmware misses a few CAN Messages that
arrive too quickly after another Message. I am hoping
to fix that in the firmware F1.10, hopefully within
a few weeks.

Works great, thanks Gary!

The true SOC is the third option in the first set and is preceded by a C. Cool.
The current below -99.9 appears as positive but retains the accuracy. As it is very technical I suppose it is OK, because it is very easy to know if it is charging or not.

I'm at the mercy of squirrelmeat for the firmware updates since I never ordered the board that would let me do it on my own. Since we're having a meeting tomorrow, though, I can announce that it's available.
