This sounds like a classic example of a bad battery module. Should be easily fixed with a competent dealer/tech.
If your current dealer can't handle it, might be time to have it towed to a dealer who can.

Got my leaf back after 20 days with loaner.
Lose bolt see pic, hoping this solves

Cool. Now that you know what was done to fix it, I'd file that safety complaint at http://safercar.gov/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, if you haven't already.

So the tech support thought there was a problem with module 36 in the traction battery pack, the tech opened the pack and found a loose bolt that was apparently causing an intermittent bad connection to the module. After tightening the bolt to specifications and reassembling the pack they couldn't replicate the problem. Does that about cover it? Sure hope that fixes the problem.

My understanding is that nissan suggested they remove the battery module and look at that particular cell . Nissan than had to ship a specific glue to reattach battery pack cover , that took a few days? I am hoping this solves the problem.

Really missed the leaf, I'm back to finding an excuse to go for a drive.

so far so good, only issue that came up this weekend was a powerfull smell of glue, which happend as soon as we went on highway and hit 55mph. had to open windows.

can you look at this image, i could have sworn that the back storage area was different before they preformed surgery on my leaf, (maybe its an old age thing) http://www.flickr.com/photos/9000583@N08/8929463658/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yikes.. the thought that a battery pack could escape without properly torqued bolts on the HV bus is pretty unnerving.. Those kinds of things can lead to fire... or at the very least a bunch of melted plastic. Also interesting that they pressure test the battery pack.

Loose Bolts Is Strange. Usually They Would Be Using Pnumatics Preset To Correct Torque Specs So Its Pretty Straight Forward Operation. I Watched A Few Packs Installed In Yokahama And Its A 4 Bolt Job That Takes About 45 seconds

Just wanted to post a followup, the leaf has been running great since they fixed the bolt issue. Zero problems and we have been driving allot.

Credit to Nissan they did pay my lease payment for two months.

The online advisor was extremely helpful, for the whole process, from getting car towed, to. Keeping me in the loop on issues.

The dealer was ok, but when i had it towed, the first thing the advisor said was that i ran it down and out of battery power, when i knew it had 30% plus, still annoys me...

And i really think they should offer leaf loaners to leaf owners.

Only regret is getting a 12k mile lease, we are driving way to much.

It soundss to me that his loose bolt was internal to the pack rather than pack install.
