Lost my 4th CB at 55,800 miles, AHr: 42.36 / H: 43.38, 183 GIDs 100% Charge. Will try to wait for summer to be over before replacing battery.

Correct, that is the Ahr
This is a 2011 car delivered in May 2011

Went to the dealer and passed my failure test, so they are going to call Nissan on Monday to start the process.

Hi everyone, I'm new here, perhaps someone can help with some questions I have. I would like to know if anyone has any information on how Nissan calculates the capacity loss. I'm under the impression they don't use the bar gauge and have an alternate method on obtaining the actual capacity loss. Anyone have experience with this?

So far as the capacity warranty and how it relates to LEAF owners is concerned, Nissan is only interested in bar loss. Not being funny, but for what reason would there be a need to know if they do otherwise for other purposes?

Oh so Nissan actually uses the bar gauge to determine if a vehicle will meet the requirement for warranty? So if you lose 4 bars within the warranty period you will qualify for them to restore the battery? I'm interested in finding out Nissan's requirements for this warranty for an assignment im working on.

A four bar loss and the P3227 software update are required.

I put the 3 bar and 4 bar loss in the wiki but it's missing a lot of info. If you could give us some of the unknowns such as VIN, mfg date from the driver door jamb label, and if you know it the date of the 3rd bar loss.

Something new guys, Tonight I'm capped at 180 GIDs, can not charge any higher. Also my number is now 45.05 so it could be that I'm about to drop that 4th capacity bar.

Yesterday I was capping at 193 Gigs.

For those that dropped the 4th bar, do you remember what your Max GIDs prior to dropping that 4th bar.

Fred

The progression continues, accelerated recently due to the hot weather.
Currently heading for 42.75Ahr in mid-December.
i have until Mid June to lose that #8 bar

^ It's interesting that you've seen continuing losses even during winter months. I've typically seen a temporary rebound in November and December, and slowed losses in the early months of the new year. Although that was before the P3227 update so I'm not sure that'll hold true this winter (I rather hope it doesn't!).
