It's more of a trade organization thing, but you might get something out of it.

Russel Vare, Nissan's EV Regional Manager is supposed to be at the reception exhibiting a LEAF. Though I should warn you he may have scheduling conflicts that mean either myself or maybe Phil/Boomer will be there in his stead, so don't sign up specifically to meet him. Although I think Phil and I are well worth meeting too. ;)

Early bird registration is $40, $55 at the door. Student $25.

Some event pics below. Not much new info for those of us heavy into the know. But a couple of gems (factual or not):

Coda:

Expects their battery packs to last 13 years
Is aiming for 120 miles EPA. Quote..."every time you get into the car, you can expect 100 miles of driving" (I assume he means when fully charged, but also under any driving circumstances).
Has seen a 50% reduction in pack cost over the last 12 months.

Sempra Energy: "...there are only 100 EVs in San Deigo as of now."

good thing they had those flags, otherwise I'd have never seen the manhole covers.

Looks like it was a nice day for an EV car-show. Good cross-section of vehicles as well. 100 seems a bit low...do they only mean the city limits, or Camp Pendleton to Mexico?

There's more than that. The Mossy group alone has delivered over 130 leafs as of last week. If you want to rope in Volts its probably over 200.

What's the Hummer looking thing?

It's a Hummer looking thing with a turbo-diesel, from the folks at MillenWorks:

Since it wasn't an EV in any sense of the word, I'm not really sure why it was there. But it was, so I dealt with it.

Nice pics, Mike. Glad you made the exhibit. It turns out I was sick that day, so it worked out well.

I wasn't about to pay the entry fee for the conference, but I should have thought about showing up to walk around the exhibit. Nice collection of interesting EVs. Many more than I thought they'd have.
:)
