To the rear of JC Penney. First parking structure, last entrance. Two EV only spots with (unfortunately) old Avcon paddle and claw units, for RAV4 and Ford Ranger respectively. But, hey, maybe they'll be upgraded soon, especially if enough of us ask. Probably just replacing the claw on the one unit with a J1772 would be the cheapest option for them in the near term.

Here is a contact page for the mall on the Westfield web site:

I wrote this:

Took advantage of your Electric Vehicle Only parking yesterday - I parked my Nissan LEAF there for a few hours while my wife and I shopped. While the special parking is great, I was not actually able to charge - the old EVSEs installed there are incompatible with the charging port on my car (which is the new J1772 type). Can I respectfully ask that you consider replacing both units with EVSEs that are J1772 compatible? For an inexpensive, near term solution, I think you'll find that you can just change the charging cable on the unit with the Ford Ranger EV "claw" connection. See my pictures of the endeavor in the following web site post:

The Ranger unit is the one fastened to the concrete post.

I live in Orange and I use the bike trail that dumps right out onto JCP there. Thanks for taking the time to inform us, Mike. I used your link and told them to get into the new millenium. Politely, of course :)

Aren't the old EVSEs going to be upgraded via the $1.9m project awarded to EV Connect and Clipper Creek?

Not sure if the current EVSE owners have to raise their hands or not, or if the upgrades will just "happen"...But it looks like Westfield shouldn't have to pay for it...

Charged here Wednesday on my way to Tustin. It is eligible for the upgrade, but I have not seen a list of sites. Rumor is September/October is when this should happen. I post on the EVchargermaps site to show activity. It is an excellent location. I only wish it was 240V instead of 208 (198V actual).
