I received a letter in the mail today inviting me to take a survey regarding alternative-powered cars. They must have found me through vehicle registration public records. It had a personalized password for me to utilize and everything.
A theme of the survey is that they kept asking me to value various qualities related to hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles. They would present various combinations of attributes price, electric range, combined range, MPG, MPGe and such and ask me to select my ideal combination of qualities. Never was I presented with options of electric only! Although when my two year lease is up I wont count out hybrid and plug in hybrids my preference (I think) will be for the less complicated, cleaner, and just more fun solution of battery only. This survey did not give me that option.
Now, my family is growing. If I find a three row Prius V on the market in 2015, I will seriously consider it, plug in or not. However, if I am still in the market for a two row hatch back for my commuting needs, my preference will be something similar to the Leaf with 50% more KW and an accessible fast charging infrastructure along the likely routes for day trips. All for 30k or less please
Who ever commissioned this survey is getting incomplete data. Here I am identified as driving an electric ONLY vehicle, but not given a choice on this survey to purchase another.
Ridiculous.
Makes you wonder about those surveys that report things like "when polled 100% of electric car owners wouldn't buy another".
