It drops just after you get past 60,000 miles. At least in my case...

Early Adopter Mistake - Running on Empty

Heading toward empty myself. I am slightly tempted to trade in my '11 LEAF for a 2016, but I should be able to get by until the 200 mile (affordable) cars come out in a couple years. Near term I can limp between charge stations for my needs, but will want to have a go anywhere EV in about 5...

    Coolant Leak

Fluid was leaking from the front under body while charging over the weekend. I suspect the charger cooling system has a leak. It immediately stopped leaking after I stopped charging. Oddly I have not seen it leaking since. Maybe the coolant all leaked out? Taking it in to the dealer...

    Front License Plate Bracket

My front plate is still not mounted. 8-) I suppose I will have to put it on someday when I get a fix-it ticket.

Bar loss when parked on roadtrip

Thank you for all the answers. I finally decided to join the crowd and ordered the bluetooth scan tool. I can monitor and talk GID's with you all now. :)

Bar loss when parked on roadtrip

I don't think it's coincidence that I have 1 less bar of capacity after a stop for food (30 - 60 minutes). Park and power off with say 6 bars, then returning at start up, it's showing 5 bars. It's happening quite often this year and never happened in the first 2 years. Anyone else seeing this...

2014 August Plugin Sales Discussion : Leaf 3186 ,Total 11803

1025 I3's in August? Surprise to me. I sat in one and found I could not drive it due to too small of an interior. My head hit the roof with the seat all the way back and down.

    powertrekk fuel cell charger

PowerTrekk replied to my post on FB: "The Puck with salt and any kind of water will power any USB-device, even if the battery in the charger is completely empty. Using a battery is great, until it's out of power. The PowerTrekk generates the electricity you'll need to power up your device...

    powertrekk fuel cell charger

For the engineers out there to review. Figure out the efficiency of this device. It uses an internal lithium ion battery to run a 4 watt hour life fuel cell "puck". I would suspect a lithium ion battery alone would be more efficient. http://powertrekk.com/"...

    1 Year "Battery Check" Results

My first year battery check was horrible. It took 2 hours and the service adviser hands me a printout of an analysis of the 12v accessory battery. I couldn't convince him to check the battery pack. He said it doesn't need checking, that there are no codes recorded. Time to find a new service...

New Target in Fremont has installed 7 Chargepoints

A new Target was built in San Luis Obispo last year and included 10 Clipper Creek charge stations. I like how you can park on either row to access the stations. Keeps my blood pressure down when SUV's are parked on one side and I can still access from the other row.

Fresh And Easy scores a near miss...

Mostly suburbans and full-size trucks park in the F&E hybrid only spaces near me. I use them when they are open. Last time I was there, a suburban was parked in one with it's engine running and the driver was in the store shopping. I was tempted to move it myself. I asked the corporate...

Tesla Model S sold out for 2012

Sounds like the same scam the last electric car company did with it's customers. Remember Phoenix. They were asking for something like 25% down to guarantee getting one of the first year's cars. Then they declared bankruptcy and never delivered any cars or returned any deposits.

    Official Ford Focus Electric Thread

"This is the first I've heard of this. I had assumed they had proper liquid cooling like the Volt does. Is this something you heard from Ford guys ?" I read it off their display. Said only air, not liquid cooling. I did not bring this up with the sales force there. Now am really wishing I...

    Official Ford Focus Electric Thread

I got a look at the latest FFE at the green festival in SF this weekend. They opened up the hood and trunk by midday and it's pretty sad. The truck is about the size of a bag of golf clubs. The "engine" compartment looks like a stock focus had it's engine pulled and then they mounted the...

Nissan Leaf 2011: 6th Month Service, $19.95 at Fremont, CA

A quick check with Costco and they will rotate factory tires for $16 and reset the wireless pressure monitors too. For that price, it's not worth getting my hands dirty. I will be doing the 7500 mile rotation in the next month or so.

    LEAF paint....soooooo thin!

My introduction to the thin paint was when the hatchback bumped a bike hanging in the garage. Nice dent and scratches to metal. First and last damage, I am hoping.

West Coast LEAF Relay/Caravan Late Summer '11

I did a test run on my leg of the relay: About 90% battery use for Santa Maria to Goleta (or return) over 101 @ 60mph on ECO and No A/C (67 miles) Running the A/C or driving 70mph would probable turtle the LEAF on this route. Another option is to take the 154 highway. I will give that a try...

My electric bill went up $20 last month

I am paying about 1 cent / mile with my TOU meter. Switched to TOU once the LEAF arrived and my power bill reduced by $10 a month. Driving about 1000 miles a month and charging at home. :D
