Sounds like there might be some interference or a weak signal (also typical of Bluetooth). You'll have to keep trying. Once it pairs it should work fine from then on. What kind of phone do you have? Newer phones will have better Bluetooth radios, protocols, and sw.

Bluetooth can be a pain to pair with any device some times. Do you get to the screen on your phone that says "Search for Devices"? Then does it find "My Car"? Then are you able to enter a PIN of 1234? What happens next? Also what kind of phone are you using?
