The official "I got my Leaf" thread

What about tax? But yeah, most dealers are awful. They do this for a living. Even if you think you got a good deal you probably didn't. This is why I'm hopeful the Tesla no dealership model takes off.

Nissan Tests New Heat-Resistant Battery For Leaf

I didn't know and still haven't seen the other thread.

    Insurance company recommendation

Geico might be fine for the insured. But you never want to get in an accident with someone with Geico. This assumes the other party is at fault. God Speed. They're slow and unorganized. Get hit by somebody a well known repuable comapany with local folks and you'll have a check from them in...

Leasing a leaf in TX (Dallas)

I'm so sick of the stealer ship model. Can't wait until Tesla goes mainstream and flips this around.

Just leased a 2103 SL ... Did I pay too much?

Not apples to apples to my above statement. It's not a $50k car because the taxpayers are paying $10k of it in California. And it's a compliance car only available in California sold in extremely small numbers. Toyota has no real interest in EV.

Just leased a 2103 SL ... Did I pay too much?

No. The lease cost so much money regardless of how it's paid. Higher down payment means lower monthly and vice versa. The money factor is so low on these that paying all up front doesn't save you very much. It's all about marketing. $199/month is very attractive and gets people in the door...

Just leased a 2103 SL ... Did I pay too much?

You paid under $35k for a SL w/ premium that likely had a sticker over $37k. That's a decent deal. You're monthly payment is so high because you put nothing down and rolled taxes into it. Even the base S model requires $2k down and prepayment of all taxes to get $199/month. Roll the taxes...

Federal + State Tax Credit = Free?

It appears Oklahoma's 75% tax credit is the most generous. Not restricted to business or person. It also appears Oklahoma provides a credit up to 0.05kWh for public charging stations.

Update on Battery Warranty Enhancement for 2011 & 2012 LEAF

I'm guessing a genius at Nissan figured it more pallatable to offer $100/month battery rental than state the battery will be $8,000 (or whatever the cost actually is). It's a "free" loan. $100/month for 80 months (6.6 years). You'll likely want/need a new battery after that time. This could...

Federal + State Tax Credit = Free?

I can't find any income restrictions for federal or state. Looks like federal eligibility is based around AMT.

Federal + State Tax Credit = Free?

Federal tax credit of 30% up to $1,000. Oklahoma tax credit of 75%. If the charging station is $1,500 installed. Federal: $450 Oklahoma: $1,125 I just netted $75. Can this be true?
