LEASED a new SV on Friday (3/24/17), 12,000 miles per year, as follows: $2800 down (drive-off, all included, no surprises) $140/month (=$129+8.25% tax) * 35 months $10,5xx residual from 0.3 * MSRP of $35,xxx Non-VPP; no floor mats or cargo cover (=$400-500!) Asked my local dealer if they...

More People Should be Buying These

Awesome. And amazingly, I (also just today) moved into a new SV lease for much the same reasons. Even though I have to make the last five payments on my 2015 S, the value propo$ition was impossible to pass up. I got a brand new vehicle, a much better model and 20% more range for $75 LESS per...

CVRP (CA) receives new cash infusion

On the last day for making amendments to the 2016-17 budget and other bills, the "Clean Vehicle Rebate Program", or CVRP, received new funding to begin sending out rebates again. They had run out of cash and started putting people on a waiting list about three months ago (June 10th, 2016)...

Same question I asked cherrytoffee above: how confident are you that you'll get the CA CVR? They haven't given any rebates since June and unless the Program gets more funding, I don't see it continuing or even the rebates given to those on the waiting list. I believe we'll have an answer on...

How confident are you that you'll get the CA rebate? They haven't given any since June, you know. Or am I missing something? I sure hope the legislature refunds the program. As far as I know, the deadline to do so is this Wednesday (August 31).

North America's largest coal power plant to become 44-MW solar farm

You must be kidding and/or naive. I believe that Germany leads the world in both installed capacity and installed capacity per capita, and it is at essentially the same latitude, or even more borreal* than Canada. If you angle panels appropriately, they can still receive full...

The Kochs Are Plotting A Multimillion-Dollar Assault On Electric Vehicles

I recognize this as being English, but what? And remind me again what part of government tea-partiers wish would work -- besides (appropriately enough), "ICE".

    CA - AB1591 - $165 flat fee for zero-emission vehicles

Almost everyone I know agrees with this, and yet I don't see it happening at all without concerted, coordinated effort. And nothing personal here, but so much complaining is just whistling in the wind. Money out of politics is my personal "solution" to so many of these...

Gasoline May Rise Above $5 a Gallon

I'm sure there's a correlation. Pretty sure the number of accidents (some fatal, no doubt) increases with each month "congress" or some cost-cutting bureaucrat decides to push off lane-painting another month or two. In some places around me, the lines have almost vanished, and at times it can...

    CA - AB1591 - $165 flat fee for zero-emission vehicles

I think they justify it by taxing gasoline somewhere around 40 cents per gallon. (They also probably consider that to be a field-leveling carbon tax, or vice versa.) No question the gas tax is too low, however. At the very least, they could/should have indexed it to inflation in 1993.

Gasoline May Rise Above $5 a Gallon

What they ought to do now is change the federal gas tax to an actual percentage of the sales price, like most taxes. So for example, they could change it to say 12%, which would come to 18c for $1.50/gallon gas (rather than the $0.183 fee which it is now). In this way, it would nearly...

    Hydrogen and FCEVs discussion thread

Belated reply, but... As someone else said, many others have argued this for a long time. So you're either not at all out on a limb, or it is that much closer to breaking. More likely the former. I don't beieve that SpaceX uses Hydrogen in their rocket(engine)s. See this Q/A on QuorA.

Or live in a state (eg, CA) that legally requires landlords to install (level 2) chargers for tenants who are willing to pay for the installation.

Happy "National Hydrogen Day" everyone. ;-) Here, too http://www.hydrogenfuelcellday.org/ ; very disheartening. :-\ ps. Anyone know if the CAFCP receives any public funding? I'm shocked -- shocked! -- that I can't find that information on their website.
