Any decent service centers in Northern Virginia? Need TCU replaced

If I manually sign into Carwings in the car ("sign in" to Carwings or "update stations"), it works once in the app or website. Otherwise, I just get an error on the website and 0 miles displayed in the app. Still working with Nissan support on this.

Any decent service centers in Northern Virginia? Need TCU replaced

It took a couple of hours but they supposedly replaced the TCU on Friday. I say supposedly because it didn't work when I tried it in the parking lot. I went back into the service center to ask and they said it takes 24 hours to "reboot." You mean activate? Yes. 48 hours later it still...

Any decent service centers in Northern Virginia? Need TCU replaced

Thanks for the responses. I called Cowles Nissan in Woodbridge and even though I gave them my VIN and they knew which part needs to be replaced, they told me I had to bring the car in before they ordered the part. So that's 3 dealerships that have no idea what they are doing. I called the...

Any decent service centers in Northern Virginia? Need TCU replaced

I have used Brown's Nissan in Fairfax and the last time they lied to me about service I needed so I'd rather not go back there (and reviews on Yelp are equally terrible). I called the Nissan dealership in Tysons Corner about getting the TCU replaced and they said "we don't do that work." Any...

New Petition To Make Nissan Cover 100% of 2G Upgrade Costs

It's useful to know when your car is done charging, isn't it? Or to remotely check on how much charge you have. Or to remotely turn on the heat, etc.

Reducing maintenance costs - avoid gouging

I got ripped off by the dealer at first, also. I will never go to a Nissan dealer again. They told me that I needed to have the coolant flushed after 3 years when the manual says 15 years. If you suspect that they are ripping you off, you are right. The air filter is an $8 part (search...

    Backup-beep backlash?

Yes, THIS. Parking lots are extremely poorly designed for pedestrian use. The sad reality is that it would cost more money and take up more space (fewer parking spots for a given area) to do it correctly, which I'm guessing is why it is not done. I'm surprised there have not been more...

Crash Test Difference 2011 vs Newer ?

I'm not the OP, but I'm assuming they are referring to the crash test results from IIHS: http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/nissan/leaf/2014 The results are the same as previous years except for the new test, Small overlap front, that was added in 2013.

Kickstarter for EV Buyer's Guide ends Dec. 2

The publishers of Electric Car Insider magazine are trying to raise funds for an EV Buyer's Guide to put on newsstands. The rewards include a subscription to the magazine (and it looks like you also get a downloadable copy of the buyer's guide). I have nothing to do with the effort but it...

Will fast charging at a Nissan dealership start costing $$$?

Uh, yeah, I charge at home. Normally, I only drive about 35 miles per day, but I sometimes need to drive 80 miles a day if I have to go to two different work locations. Considering the Leaf has less than an 80 mile range (in winter it's more like 50), the only way I can do this without...

Will fast charging at a Nissan dealership start costing $$$?

Well that sucks! Now I'm going to have to pay $10 each time I use a fast charger or sign up for a monthly plan.

Will fast charging at a Nissan dealership start costing $$$?

I'm wondering if there ever was any kind of statement about these always being free for Nissan Leaf owners. The reason I thought of it is because the fast charger that I sometimes use at a local Nissan dealership now has an eVgo card reader on it and the screen shows eVgo branding. It just...

Timing of getting my next EV

Ditto for me. I bought my Leaf 3 years ago and will wait another 3+ years until the Model 3 (I want a minimum 200 mile range) is available for a reasonable price (probably not too much more than I paid for my 2012 Leaf SL). I almost leased the Leaf but when I found out that I had to pay sales...

    Reduction Gear Oil

This sounds a lot like the dealer that said I should get the coolant fluid flushed. The manual says (for coolant fluid) 125k miles or 15 years, not after 3 years. They are full of crap. Try another dealership.

Leaf maintenance (or how to avoid being ripped off)

OK, I found an answer to the battery check requirement in the warranty book: "You are required to perform annual EV Battery Usage Report at intervals of 12 months, 24 months, 36 months, 48 months, 60 months, 72 months, and 84 months. These EV Battery Usage Reports can be performed by a Nissan...
