Not correct.
On my 2013 S I press the Timer Off button, then have 15 minutes (I believe that's what the manual says) before I have to plug in, and all is good.
I'm not sure what your problem might be...
1) 30 miles each way, plus a few extra for lunch, so about 65 miles a day.
2) Mostly country highway at 60 to 70 MPH with a few stoplights. Somewhat hilly.
I can make the round trip without charging but don't enjoy it much since range anxiety starts with the first mile in the morning...
Is charging in hot weather (L1 in my case) any worse than just letting the car sit in hot weather?
