I can vouch that I was point blank advised against buying this car when i went to look at it at the dealership.
maybe they are starting to catch on....
after 18+ years in the desert i was lucky to get 2 years out of a normal lead acid battery.
I had no illusions that an electric car battery would fare better without thermal cooling.
still, nissan could have been WAY more proactive in educating desert owners before they bought. hell they...
rick,
i beat you with 9 bars charging outside of a frys! lol way to hot for L2, how much did you get out of it? mine only charged 15% before it throttled the charge :/
This is why i wish people used linux more... the prices we pay for being a bleeding edge adopter!! at least you become adept at formatting and reinstalling new distros...
lol in all fairness, i empathize with people who purchased it, but its not like batteries were so new we didn't know they...
i guess its relative, if you go only 2.5 more years and loose one more bar you'll be somewhat inline with nissans predictions.
only time will tell. hopefully the 2015 has great new battery technology that the early leafs can take advantage of
i was actually reference an article elsewhere that said 12 on the replacements, but your statement here is what led me to believe it. i cant believe nissan would want to spend all that labor money on 9 bar packs.
@ Volusiano
you might confusing the battery warranty and the leasing programs. From what i read the program will give you a full 12 bar battery when you first sign up, and when you loose three bars, it will replace it again with another 12 bar. but i guess your right that we cant bet on this...
no sleazy sales people are doomed....
to the OP you need to return the car, or take nissan up on their new battery leasing option. your trouble is the car has lost capacity and it is being even more conservative with the battery rage readings.
i would raise all hell that they were not more...
well the hope would be that when economies of scale kick in (100K leafs on the road) the price drops to 50 a month :)
at least its a start, they could have said tough crud buy a 15K battery :/
you guys see the new battery policy, similar to Europe. you can buy it, they take your battery back and give you a fresh new one and you pay them 100 a month, and they will replace it when you loose 3 bars with one back at 12.... even with my electricity cost id still be saving over 100 a month...
what are some causes of the low accuracy? I would hope that the can-bus is feeding information to the ecu that was at least 90%+ accurate. if this was an ICE a discrepancy like that would cause it to run terribly
