As an Early Leaf Leasee I Feel Under Appreciated by Nissan

When you make a car buying decision, especially as an early adopter, you make it based on the facts that exist at that time. This is even more true with technology. Just look at what has happened with computer technology over the last 20 years. One knows that what you buy today will be less...

Is anyone really aware of what Nissan has done?

That's the definition of "early adopter". You often choose to pay more to be one of the first. And, in this case, to support the EV movement. It is also for exactly this reason that I leased, rather than purchased. I figured (apparently correctly) that as with all new technology, the price...

Lessee's: Will you buyout your lease?

Just wondering - why would you not have to pay sales tax on the buyout? My understanding is that you absolutely do, just like when you buy a car when it is new.

Said goodbye to the Leaf yesterday

If it was a bad cell, it would be replaced under warranty - no? The factor that is not warrantied is "capacity loss" which shouldn't have anything to do with a "bad" cell. At least that's my understanding.

Said goodbye to the Leaf yesterday

This discussion makes me feel vindicated in my decision to lease rather than buy. I still have 12 bars after 12 mos and 13K miles, but we are all early adopters, and Nissan's reaction to the capacity loss issue would irk me even more if the ultimate financial issue (i.e. residual) was mine...

    Parking ticket at LAX

If I came upon a vehicle that had finished charging but had the cable secured through this contraption - THAT is when I would be pissed!

    Parking ticket at LAX

I have to admit I am confused about this entire LAX parking situation. Last time I was there, I parked in the area of parking area 1 around the wall from where the charges were. I was one of about 8 to 10 Leafs parked there. Obviously was not plugged in, but didn't need a charge either. So...

LEAF to GRID - Powering Your House From Your Leaf

As noted in article, useful not only in emergency situations, but also to even out household power usage and switch household peak period usage to base period. http://mashable.com/2012/06/18/your-electric-car-will-power-your-home-in-the-future/

Do Electric Vehicles Live Up To Their "Green" Reputation?

Here is an article published today by the Berkeley Energy & Resources Collaborative regarding whether EVs are actually cleaner. http://berc.berkeley.edu/blog/post/electric-cars-on-a-dirty-grid-clean-or-not It reports on a new study by Climate Central which concludes that it depends on in which...

Cleaner to Charge at Night? This Article Surprised Me

Interesting article about whether it is more environmentally friendly to charge during high usage or low usage periods. According to this study, energy produced during low usage periods is dirtier (coal) energy...

    Do you charge at work?

Although I can make it to and from work on a single charge, it doesn't allow me much additional range for additional trips during the day. So, my employer installed a 220 outlet for me at my parking spot. I use my L1 charger (upgraded to L2 through EVSE Upgrade Project) on the 220 outlet. No...

    LEAF Re-Boot, Pros and Cons

This forum is the greatest! I have had the "no service" problem since 2/2/12 and had almost resigned myself that I would have to take to dealer and educate it about the problem. Instead, I found this F34 fix, tried it, and it worked immediately. Thanks for the useful information.

    Car Wash

So, I took the plunge at a full service car wash today. When I left the car with the ticket writer, I asked him if he knew how to place it in neutral. He said "why don't you show me". So I did. He and the "jockey" who drove it to the line and the "jockey" who drove it off the line all took...
