The resistor is definitely needed, as this generator does not strap neutral and ground together. There is no ground reference. It is an isolated generator.

I am interested in seeing new developments on this! I just got a new 2014 Leaf, S trim (the basic one). So no Carwings, and no nav system. I am already starting to miss the lack of remote charge monitoring.

Thanks Phil. As I said, the connection is a L14-20 outlet. So it is 120+240 on the same plug. My generator does not have a 120/240v switch. It only has circuit breakers for the 120v outlets and one for the L14-20. I shall try the neutral->ground bond through 100k resistance on the L14-20 plug.

Sounds like these unit are still so green that they need mowing, age wise. Will wait and see!

I would be very interested to hear if anyone has any trouble with this unit. My work is investigating options for additional/replacement EVSEs. The old Eaton units we have are very unreliable.

I may never need to replace my battery during my ownership of my Leaf, but I want the option to do so without any other encumberance against the vehicle (permanent rental, etc).
