cwerdna wrote: Fri Jun 09, 2023 6:29 pm Maybe I'll start another thread about this:
https://twitter.com/ABBNorthAmerica/sta ... 2830041091 says that ABB is adding NACS as an option on their products. ABB makes many models of DC FCs.
I suggest instead a thread consolidating all the charger infrastructure universe transition to NACS. We can cover manufacturers, installers, port conversions, and adapters.

In that vein:
1. EVGO has said they will add NACS to their stations
2. Flo (mostly in Canada I think) will also add NACS to their stations

Adapters:
Tesla will design and manufacture NACS -> CCS adapters for legacy GM and Ford EVs. 'Expected in 2024'. I have my doubts that other CCS cars will be excluded, but I suppose it is possible for non-technical reasons. I'll guess more likely that the payment process will be less elegant and prone to the same handshaking time-outs as the present CCS system.
Let's continue.

June 12 (Reuters) - Electric vehicle charging equipment makers Blink Charging (BLNK.O), ChargePoint (CHPT.N) and Tritium (DCFC.O) said on Monday they will offer chargers with Tesla's connector, as the standard Combined Charging System (CCS) connector falls out of favor with automakers

Auto Manufacturers: Rivian goes NACS

States: Texas is now going to require NACS and CCS. This is a change from being anti-NACS a year ago

VW is said to be waiting for a real standard to be released. Controlled by a real standards organization.

Having a real standards organization would prevent Space Karen from messing things up for LOLs.

Re: charging infrastructure supporting NACS

Evercharge is (I think) a DC charger distributor, though I have never heard of them. They are NACS gung-ho

As an aside, it sure would be a nice side effect if the consolidation around NACS was to lead to significant decreases in DC fast charger prices.

Re: charging infrastructure supporting NACS

I've never seen their DC FCs before but I used their L2 EVSEs in Torrance at https://www.plugshare.com/location/331536 in Dec 2021. I added the night time label pic. I wouldn't say they're a household name either as I've not seen their equipment elsewhere. I'd taken a road trip down to So Cal.

This is the first and only time I've seen a Volta setup where they had 1 or 2 large signs for ads and then the EVSEs were just smaller units in a row w/o a large enclosure.
