Good Morning from sunny FL.
New to owning a Nissan Leaf, but not new to the world of EVs (this is my third purchase!).
Bought a gently used 2018 Nissan Leaf SV that had the 6.6kw onboard charger as OEM. Only when I took possession the charger did not come with the car, d'oh! Carmax says I can submit a reimbursement request. What portable level 2 charger would you recommend I buy?
Thanks!

The portable EVSE that came with your Leaf works on 240V or 120V with an adapter. It does NOT work with 208V supplies so if you are planning to ever charge using a 208V system don't get the Nissan-supplied EVSE. Otherwise, its a good unit, very portable, easily available and will supply the max power your Leaf can use (27.5A at 240V).

We don't know if OP's Leaf had the SV technology package. If you look at https://usa.nissannews.com/en-US/releases/release-77b5f147884a4439bd10c4d9207f2237-us-2018-nissan-leaf-press-kit specs tab, in order to get the 120/240 volt L1/L2 EVSE, for SV, you needed to have the SV Technology Package.

'18 S needed Charge Package, whereas '18 SL came with it. Front page of the above URL says
"The top-of-the-line Nissan LEAF SL features LED headlights and LED signature Daytime Running Lights
...
and portable charge cable (120V/240V ECSE)."

Leafs that don't come with the L1/L2 120/240 volt EVSE only came with an L1 120 volt (12 amp max) EVSE.

If the OP is looking for a level 2 EVSE (for level 1 and 2 AC charging, the charger is on-board the car, the external unit, the EVSE is just a smart safety switch), see https://www.chevybolt.org/threads/what-is-the-best-dumb-32-amp-evse-for-the-money.43599/page-3#post-723119, for examples. https://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=539011#p539011 has pointers to background info about (on-board) charger vs. EVSE.

Be aware that the Nissan OEM EVSE lists for around $1,800. When we bought our 2019 new the EVSE was missing. The dealership tried to order one from parts but it was backordered. So I negotiated they send me a check for $1300 (their cost). Then I bought a Nissan OEM EVSE on eBay for $250

You need them to reimburse you for the EVSE, the BAG it comes in and the wall holder. All that come originally with the car.

Searched eBay, The full kit NEW s going for $899 https://www.ebay.com/itm/295427109904?epid=1229967054&hash=item44c8d3f410:g:Ks8AAOSwl6JjoJ0Q&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4OmZqMbziQgKbaDbysEHQf0aJYQXe0SugrNyFSYi%2F%2Bk5rUj4rNlYH9RnBQYHSMCscUK3gyl4OKxOmcfa9PT4nIuyG3oKD1ZWs3%2FUlua%2BgqFoDbve%2FlK2QrJ7y09CMGtmaJ8l495kSL9KCiEreqBeAwnjWjE7Nbw6wcJeSi1%2BbcvRcLjDL9veHTxkdK%2F9hjdjWYVP4iuE5Zn%2B9oe0%2BCST8tqZaS%2B5mv7Ehup%2BIVecdPClMKTSZDg36Mlkhes0lc%2F43IjHOgsTAwR48PKJ%2BtLgKfWotSvE2GIm73H4ulOKzFFG%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR76nsp_yYQ

You can buy used for around $350 https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw=nissan+evse+oem&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_odkw=nissan+evse&_osacat=0

good luck..

Oh WOW, thank you so much. I will post an update when I heard back from them. But am requesting reimbursement for the full OEM cost, not a replacement lower charge rate portable charger. This is super helpful!

good luck..

So they want to provide me a mustart charger. I specifically requested reimbursement t go buy the OEM equipment form the nissan dealer or the OEM equipment. Any suggestions?

Mustart is an aftermarket OEM and a cheaper Chinese model to boot, but it should probably work OK, up to you. I'd be surprised if they wanted to pay the big bucks for an OEM EVSE but thats just me. If you really wanted an OEM I suppose they could give you what a Mustart costs and you could put that money towards the ebay OEM EVSE someone posted a link to earlier.
The OEM is a quality unit but won't work on 208v if that matters to you, in that case you'd be better with an aftermarket model.

If you want to negotiate, there are several better models by Clipper Creek (US made) and other manufacturers in the $500 range. Try for one of those, or the price thereof. Just make sure that whatever it is you get, it will work on 208 volts as well.

Mustart is garbage. See below for suggestions.

Also see https://www.macheforum.com/site/attachments/d1-3a_-_march_2019_epri_iwc_-_evse_safety_analysis-et-1-1-pdf.51197/ - per recommendations there, stick w/units that are NRTL-certified.

Indeed, https://store.clippercreek.com/level2?sort=p.price&order=ASC has a great rep.
