When I test drove a LEAF with ProPilot, I was able to (even encouraged by the dealership LEAF expert) to engage ProPilot on the 4 lane road in front of the dealership. It is 2 lanes in each direction with a double yellow line down the middle, and traffic lights. I didn't keep it on until I got close to a traffic light, but I didn't see anything stopping me from going through one.

In my more recent test drives (after ny accident) of the ID.4, the lane keeping was able to be engaged on a side road with one lane in each direction, separated by a double yellow line, on a road with traffic lights and stop signs. I didn't try to keep it on near a stop sign.

What do these cars do at a stop sign or traffic light?

Re: Tesla's autopilot, on the road

You hope for a car ahead of you. With that, you can leave Pro Pilot on, as long as they aren't stopped for more than 3 seconds. In that case, you have to press "Resume" to reactivate it when they start moving again. Any current driver assist system should be assumed to be in need of constant supervision.

That's exactly how AutoPilot worked before the update that added stop sign and traffic light control (for cars that had the FSD option purchased). The accident under discussion happened before that update.

Agreed. It's also something that AutoPilot reminds you of each and every time you enable it.

Tesla fired an employee after he posted driverless tech reviews on YouTube
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/03/15/tesla-f ... utube.html

I don't watch his videos nor follow him but I did see the collision at https://youtu.be/sbSDsbDQjSU?t=205, around 3:25. Until today, I had no idea he even worked for Tesla.

For those who haven't seen it, the following ad showcasing FSD behaving badly has been running on television here as the main theme of a California Senatorial campaign, via IEVS: https://insideevs.com/news/580991/tesla ... candidate/

One wonders how long the FTC will continue to allow Tesla to call the system "Full Self Driving", as that's never been the case.

No self-interest at all right? The business owner makes software that the OEMs rely on for their own ADAS needs. If the OEMs decided that to develop their own solution, then his business dries up.

Smart Summon requires the owner to keep holding down the summon button. Considering that the car kept going AFTER collision, then the owner wasn't paying attention.

I've used summon before, during a rain with no umbrella, that's where it's most useful. Not as some sort of party trick.

"Full Self Driving (beta)" inspires about as much confidence as "Robot Brain Surgeon (beta)".
I noticed you're still working with polymers.
