Now why is it that Tucson has all these cool events?

I know ASU has a solar race team but I think they had to return the beer vat chassis back to Four Peaks Brewery for the new summer brewing season.

Seriously, is this a governmental sponsored event from your House Rep?

I know I'm almost the only one who posts on this thread and may be the only one who reads it, but I have news . . . .

My PD called about an hour ago to confirm that my LEAF will be delivered in March. Also, besides the general manager of the dealership who ordered a LEAF, I will be their first delivery from that dealership. Since there are only two dealerships in Tucson - I should be one of the first in town. Woo Hoo!!

He had no date in March, but wanted me to know that I am at the top of their list. So Tucson will finally get some deliveries in March. I know I received my RAQ after others that were moved to April, but like some have said, the location seems to play a part in the delivery schedule too.

Happy day!!

Congrats Rich! Some of us Phoenix people do read the Tucson area as well...

I passed the 3 week mark of ownership this past weekend, along with the 1000 mile mark. The car is just great and was worth the wait.

Yup, there are 'many' of us Phoenix folks who watch your postings.

I will be getting my LEAF in April (my EVSE in late March, and my PV in early March).

I am really excited to be a soon to be owner of this fantastic vehicle.

I saw my FIRST Tucson LEAF on the road this morning. I was on my way to work at about 7:10 am on Sunrise near La Paloma Resort. Lately I've been noticing other vehicles that are about the size of the LEAF, just to check out their size. I saw a red car coming towards me and thought, "That looks about the size of a LEAF." Then I realized, "It is a LEAF!!! " WOW! It was beautiful and very shiny!!! I think it belongs to the financial planner, Doug something, that was featured in the AZ Daily Star last Friday. I think his office is near there.

Soon, very soon, my Blue Ocean LEAF will be cruising down the same road.

Blink charger will be installed tomorrow afternoon. Almost, there.

This Saturday, April 2, Bookmans is sponsoring Green Fest on North Campbell, just south of River Road at the Tucson Village Farm - from 10 am to 2 pm.

My LEAF will be on display with other historical electric vehicles - I guess at the more recent end of the timeline. I'll also bring a slideshow on my iPad of the solar PV system on my roof and show people how its possible to have a car run on solar power.

If you are in the area on Saturday, stop by and say hello.

Been driving the Leaf for a week now, starting to get a little more comfortable with how far I can go on a charge.

I just wanted to confirm that the charging station options in Tucson is still pretty bleak. As near as I can tell we've only got charging stations at:
  • Jim Click Nissan
  • Thoroughbred Nissan
  • Bookman's on Grant (Chargepoint)
  • Bookman's on Ina (Chargepoint)

As near as I can tell the DC chargers that were supposed to go up along I-10 between Tucson and Phoenix have not been installed yet.

Are there any other charging stations - either up now or 'coming soon'? I went by the new Costco just off of I-10 and was disappointed to see that there were no charging stations there.

More charger questions ('cause I got so many answers to my last one :D )

The Blink map shows 4 chargers in Tucson. One up in Oro Valley and three at the U of A. However, the three U of A ones show as "offline". Has anyone been to these chargers? Any ideas as to why they are offline?

Jason, it is my understanding that the U of A chargers are inside a maintenance facility or parking structure. Kind of dumb, huh? We saw these chargers on the map too. There is a charger at an apartment or condo complex at 9855 East Speedway Boulevard. We pulled in there and found it in the center of the complex near the managers office. Of course there was an ICE sitting in the parking spot. It is a Charge Point charger.

We think we might have seen you driving your silver LEAF on Saturday night on Tanque Verde Road at about 9 or 9:30. We were sitting in ours at the Dairy Queen having dessert and a silver LEAF passed by. We pulled out and I saw the personalized plate and I think it was yours - not sure. Was that you?

Yesterday at the Safeway at Tanque Verde and Sabino Canyon I got into my car and a guy came up to my window and said, "Aren't you just loving this car?" Then he pointed out his new blue LEAF two cars down in the parking lot. I got his email address to send him info about another gathering. He made it all the way up Mt. Lemmon. I'd like to hear his story.

For some info on the 3 UA Blink charging stations, see this background article:
http://www.arizona.edu/features/sustainability-efforts-continue-one-green-leaf

A couple of weeks ago I went looking for the UA EV Project charging stations and found a working one on the UA Campus. It is in the 6th street UA parking garage (the garage is on the north side of 6th Street between Highland & Park). The BLINK station is located at the east end of the parking garage. It is working and there was a LEAF plugged in -- but a Hertz sign was on the space and the LEAF parked there and being charged was a Hertz rental car. I spoke to someone standing nearby who said he was with UA Parking & Transportation. He said that he thinks Hertz paid for the BLINK installation (?) and that the car was there for UA folks to rent via the "Hertz on Demand" program, see: http://www.hertzondemand.com/UniversityofArizona

To clarify the above and lean more, I emailed the key Parking & Transportation person quoted in the first article above, and asked him several questions about public access to the UA Blink charging stations. I will follow up if/when I hear back from him.

So, more later . . .

Katie (aka Krakato) --my silver LEAF expected to arrive in September - can't wait!

Hah, yup, that was me. It's funny - my friend who has ordered a Leaf keeps having Leaf spottings - I have not. It sounds like I'm just not paying enough attention :)

I just posted a detailed message about the responses I got re: the UA Tucson Blink stations at:
http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=4937
Yeah, I just read that post - thanks for the update. I'm going to have to check them out some weekend - if nothing else to get them programmed into my nav system :)

On a more disturbing note: I am having problems with my Carwings, and I was told to go get the "TSB Software update". So I called Thoroughbred, and the guy had absolutely no clue. He then told me that they no longer have their Nissan Leaf specialist. He wasn't exactly sure what to do, and couldn't get ahold of the service manager. I'm awaiting a call back, so we'll see. Obviously I'll try Jim Click if Thoroughbred can't help. However, I'm wondering if Thoroughbred should be selling Leafs if they can't service them.

We went to the Oro Valley town hall and library parking lot on La Canada Sunday night. There are four level 2 Blink EVSEs. I had received my Blink card last week. Held it up to the front of the EVSE and plugged in my Leaf. Seemed to work well.

To follow up about Thoroughbred:
They do not have a Nissan tech. I don't know if he quit or was fired. I also don't know how long they have been without a tech. They have another tech in training, but he won't be back until September 3rd. It really surprises me that they would put themselves in that position. When I called Jim Click, they mentioned that they had 2 or 3 Leaf techs.
