I'd rather keep the battery for some sort of powerwall. the battery is still claiming 12 bars. A 2015 S that we've never babied

If you want to do that, and can find a local mechanic to help, then you might make some decent money selling parts that weren't damaged. The battery is worth the most, obviously, but a body shell in good shape can yield a lot of parts, or even sell for a good price to someone who has a car with a destroyed rear shell and a good nose.

I had the exact same problem (bent inner tie rod) on my 2015 LEAF. I ordered The Dorman 523-243 replacement.
It was not compatible. The threads on the steering rack side are larger and much finer than the ones on the original.

Left side is the original, right is Dorman 523-243

Funny -- I had exactly the opposite problem. I bought the replacement inner tie rod from O'Reilly's and it was the coarser thread and didn't fit. Instead, I needed to use the Dorman part (finer thread). 2012 Leaf.
