Inyokern is becoming a bit of a nexus for Charging. It does sit at the junction of CA-14, US-395 & CA-178.

We have Tesla V2 - 4 stations.
Soon Tesla V3, 12 stations nearing completion behind Classic Burger.
EV Connect - 1 DC fast Charger, dual head, at the airport. Plus dual headed J-1772.
Chargepoint - 1 DC Fast Charger, dual head, at Brady's. Plus dual headed J-1772.

Now I found out Rivian has pulled permits / under construction on 6 DC fast chargers also behind Classic Burger, plus 2 J-1772.

Below is a photo of the new V3's. Looks like 1 V3 is designed for side access, not the normal Tesla configuration, and at the very end maybe 1 pull through V3.

I received an update from our mayor which I'll post below.

Some area updates:
Inyokern Tesla V3 opened a few months back. Seems to be working great.
The V2 is still also open, and I'm hoping Tesla decides to turn their old V2s into the CCS / Open stations they have talked about.
Caltrans finished stations at rest stops around our area, including Coso Junction, Division creek, and in Bishop at the Caltrans Headquarters.
And Rivian is still working on their station in Inyokern and another has been spotted in Bishop. In Inyokern the station is waiting for the Charging Kiosks to be installed, and either the Transformer or a Battery Pack.
There is also a Chargepoint at Brady's in Inyokern area and an EV Connect at the Inyokern airport.

I was able to get another update from our mayor. He had a few interesting things and I'll share below what he told me. As with everything, there have been delays. Not unexpected. Here is what he told me:
So slow progress as we are waiting for the next round of the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District Grant program to open up (early 2022). Not sure how to put it but pressure is being applied to both the City of Ridgecrest and the RACVB to implement EV charging stations. I think the City will be first to act as we have been negotiating with BEAM ( beamforall.com) to put freestanding solar units.

Casino is not dead yet and if they move forward, I too will be pressuring them.

So as for the credit union, the project got tied up in permitting due to ADA issues with the parking spot. Learned a lot in the process and that is certainly a big part of the hesitancy for people to put them in. In retrospect, if we had abandoned the EV charger or solar project would be done. So, bureaucracy strikes again.
