No, though the configuration looks similar, a 6-50 plug doesn’t fit a 14-50 receptacle and vice versa. Removing the neutral will not make it fit.
 
As an aside, my Zencar EVSE came with a 14-50P and I wired a 14-30R (on a 30A circuit). The EVSE is set to 24A and, with the neutral blade removed, the plug fits perfectly in the 14-30R, no hammer required :)

Obviously, you would never use an EVSE that draws more than 24A on a 14-30R.

AFAIK, that won't work with a 6-50R.
