Leaf back in silver position in Norway in Feb.

keep in mind importing countries monthly numbers are without meaning look at the entire year to see the trend.

Leaf officially edges out for Silver, a rare medal for it now. But given its Norway, we'll take it.

Leaf for SILVER in Netherlands in Feb. The Leaf still has a few fights left in it.

#2 in a wider swath of Europe as well behind M3! Unreal given competition.

Don't know but I know why some would buy a Bolt. Had one Bolter drove her 2018 LT to the dealership , received her buyback check minus $5K for wear and tear, turned the check over, signed it handed it right back and drove home in a 2020 Premier on a break even deal. Now that is temptation I am not sure I could overcome!

True, though I hated the way the Bolt drove. If I found it more comfortable and nicer to drive, we might have bought one in 2018 before the Plus arrived. My wife tried a Tesla a few months later, and also hated it. (Remember power, autopilot, minimalist, big screen, iPhone like following have 0 or even negative value to her; a heated steeringwheel, big boot, and remote heat ... priceless)

Yeah, the LEAF is definitely a cut above but the Bolt is still EV and its shortcomings I could have overlooked and I would have in the situation above but I was never in the market when Bolt prices were good so... With the Plus, there is no Bolt advantage any more.

People can cherry pick DC options, long drives, whatever but it all boils down to how much each issue matters and for the most part it doesn't to me. Range is close enough, DC charging is faster on the LEAF and its a more refined car. The newer Bolts are likely nicer and all that but nowhere near the improvements I was expecting.

I also looked at the Bolt. Seats were a complete deal killer.

Leaf has somehow pulled ahead of eTron this month in Norway. M3 is crushing all the others though.

It is a waste of time to look at a month of sales

Norway
In 2020 ~ 9,000 EVs were registered in Q1
Q1/2021 will be completed in another 14 days, and so far 17,487 EVs have been registered.
That sounds extremely promising, but I don't know if e.g. a Covid rebound is in effect. It would be interesting to have ICE/diesel sales for the same periods. In most years 100k - 125k car sales a year in Norway, although Q1 is typically the weakest quarter.

Anyway, for YTD 2021 the Audi E-tron and Tesla Model 3 are the leaders. I don't know how much E-tron is benefiting from a limited field of CUV/SUV but my guess is that Tesla Model Y and the VW ID.4 are going to shake things up later this year.

This is why I bought a Leaf now. I found a used 2017 Leaf S with a 40 KWH battery pack replaced under warranty by Nissan (replaced the week before I bought it). Finally I have a Leaf that I can Drive into town and back without recharging (50 miles each way). The price of the car was probably less that what I would have had to pay outright for a new 40 KWH battery pack.

Price! With the incentives I got a terrific deal on a new leftover 2020 SL+. It does the job for me just fine.

Any details of that warranty exchange? Since there is no one reporting any bars missing, I would be surprised to see one with 4 bars missing.

The Volvo 240 series, which started as the 140 series in 1966 IIRC, lasted an additional 20 years or so after the 140 was redesigned with a new engine in about 1977. It was a better body design than the original Leaf of course, but really good cars can last quite a while in the market - or at least they once could.

I feel like we have entered the fast iteration cycle for EVs now. Kind of like Plasma/LCD test 5 years ago. As much as I liked the MachE, the new Kia already has potentially better specs(charging time->800V), outboard power, etc.

Guessing we will stick with our Leafs for another few years, but the day dreaming is fun.

Thanks. Found https://usa.nissannews.com/en-US/releases/release-b20ed58322d84ca29dd7c4b00900ab3a-nissan-group-reports-first-quarter-2021-us-sales. Bolt is just creaming Leaf in US sales.

For Q1 2021, it was 2,925 Leaf vs. 9,025 Bolt, which I posted at https://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=601758#p601758.
