Kingman AZ seems to be a thorn not just for EA but also Tesla. I've heard the Kingman tesla site is rated the worst in the country.

Kyle from Out Of Spec Motoring just did a new cannonball EV record run using only EA. So things have come a long way.

Hadn't heard that but a quick Google search turned up some complaints at https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/supercharger-kingman-az.25072/page-5

There's also https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/worst-super-charger-in-usa.217191/ with some people adding their nominations.

Here's another problem with SAE Combo/Combo1:

Look at the current 1st pic at https://www.plugshare.com/location/247356 and the check-in by BarBoltEV on 1/8/21. He says:
While charging today I noticed that three of the four CCS plugs [fixed his typo] have broken clips. I have reported this to Electrify America but I want to warn others of the danger. Do not attempt to unplug if the charger is actively running, serious damage to the vehicle could occur. I’m also not sure who is breaking these plugs like this but I wish people could be more considerate
I actually know him from charging station encounters when he only had a Bolt. He now has a Taycan so he's enjoying his free 3 years of 30 minutes at a time session on Electrify America (since EA is VW of America owned and VW owns Porsche).

I've been dealing with a family illness for the past month so haven't been reading or posting, but I think things may be returning to normal soon. I did want to provide the usual monthly update, if a bit late.

At the end of January there were 538 sites open/144 "Coming soon", compared to 534/147 at the end of December, a gain of 4 open sites. Current totals are 556/143 i.e. another 18 open, although I suspect some of these opened in January but the map wasn't updated for some reason.

Here's the list of road trip coverage expansion or gap filler "Coming soon" sites in the west I've been or will be monitoring, and consider most important for completion; three (Pacific Grove, Harris Ranch and Oakhurst) have opened and have been removed from the list, while a new site in Placerville, CA (U.S.50) has been added:

WA: Port Angeles and Aberdeen (U.S. 101); Leavenworth (U.S. 2); Poulsbo (S.R. 3/305/307).

Oregon: Bend (U.S. 97); Warrenton & Newport (U.S. 101).

CA: Greenfield & Solvang (U.S. 101); Placerville (U.S. 50); Los Banos, Lost Hills & Oceanside (I-5); Buck Meadows (S.R. 120); Fenner (I-40).

AZ: Quartzsite (I-10); *Williams & Kingman (I-40).

NV: Lovelock & W. Wendover (I-80).

For some reason EA's app is only showing the single CCS-CHA charger as currently being available at their QC sites. Has anyone seen anything that would indicate what's going on with the CCS-only chargers? Is this some fallout from Bolt/Kona etc. fires?

Glitch? Are you logged in, if not the app gives funny results.

Walmart in Everett, WA shows 6 CCS, 1 Chademo available, 1 CCS in use and 2 CCS down.

I just noticed the same thing, it showed my two closest stations as "coming soon" until I logged back in on the APP. Now it shows Mojave as 3 and 1 available.

Yes, I was logged in. Whatever the glitch was it's fixed today, as I can once again see CCS chargers listed. Weird.

Aberdeen hasn't even broken ground yet so don't make any plans if you need it.

^^^ Not sure if that was addressed to me or just a general warning to anyone. I maintain the list to monitor useful new coming soon roadtrip sites for all, not because I figure on needing them myself anytime soon. And of course, some sites never do open.

This location is making some (small) waves in the CNY ev Facebook group as they are posting pics showing this EA station to have...are you sitting down...2 Chademos. The EA app verifies it too. Oneonta NY

Plugshare photos weren't that helpful but the EA app says for this site there are 6 CCS and 2 100 kW CHAdeMO. Wow. And, they actually put the each CHAdeMO handle on a different charger.

Interestingly, I noticed that per https://www.electrifyamerica.com/pricing/, Guest and Pass pricing for NYC is 35 cents/kWh unlike the crazy 43 cents/kWh in CA. Pass+ pricing is the same for both states: 31 cents/kWh.

So EA has had a change of heart and gone back to 100 kw chademo? (Like it was back in the beginning)

Since this station has only been open a few days, does this mean an announcement from EA is imminent or are they going the Nissan route and just letting people discover it on their own?

I suspect the latter...

Not sure it helps that much to call attention to their more even ratio of CHAdeMO vs. CCS than all (or pretty much all) their other sites.

With two new sites coming in my area hopefully soon, will be very interested in seeing the configuration

^^^
https://www.electrifyamerica.com/locate-charger/ lists numerous coming soon sites (I used their filter) but unfortunately, of the ones near me coming soon, it lists no details about their plug counts. :(

Yeah never does. Just lists one CCS, One Chademo right up till activation day. How about activations in say the past week? Plug counts should be there.

TIL about "EVolve NY".

From a post over at https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/electrify-america-fast-chargers-huh.133558/page-35#post-5365590, miimura wrote:
"The EA app shows that this site is associated with the EVolveNY charger network. So, that is probably why it has better CHAdeMO support than other EA sites."

He then pointed to https://electrek.co/2020/09/23/nypas-evolve-ny-opens-first-of-many-350kw-charging-stations-that-will-blanket-the-state/.
