Great news, no more jockeying for a LEAF QC charging spot, LEAFs now have exclusive use of the CHAdeMO outlets, which are in no danger of being removed anytime soon.

Just a guess but I would say 80 percent of the EV’s here are Chademo compatible if you include Tesla’s. Like I say. That can change quick with a reasonably priced CCS adapter.

I live in the center of the densest concentrations of Tesla's in the world, and have never been shut out by a Tesla.

It's only a 13.8 kWh battery, it won't use the DCFC for long. I'd be curious to know how many PHEV drivers bother with DCFC considering it costs more with l2. I see them charge at the office (l2) but never seen one on a DCFC yet.

All Teslas Model S and beyond can use their CHAdeMO adapter. Besides some folks in my area on "TMC" who use it, I've personally witnessed a Model X driver use it in the last 6 months and a Model 3 driver in the past week.mtndrew1 said:

I just don’t consider Tesla drivers in supercharger deserts using $500 adapters to be the savior of CHAdeMO in the US. Tesla is launching the CCS adapter in Korea this quarter and if that makes its way to the US I can’t imagine anyone using the enormous CHAdeMo contraption.
Hell even Nissan has gone with CCS for the Ariya. Stick a fork in CHAdeMO in the US, it’s done.

As the major charging providers have reaffirmed several times, they have no intention of discontinuing their CHAdeMO service. They have reaffirmed that as long as there are paying customers, they will be there to serve them.

Different places would be affected different ways. In BC if you got rid of Chademo it would essentially shut off access to about half the province to about 2/3 or more of the EV fleet of the province. We are a socialist province and Provincial utility (BC Hydro) which is owned by the people is the primary installer of DCFC in the province. They also coordinate other companies like Petro Canada and Electrify Canada. The BC government is big on EV’s. I’m sure they won’t be stopping support for Chademo any time soon. Over 10 percent of vehicles sold in this province are EV’s, and the majority are Chademo compatible.

I think the death of Chademo is greatly overstated. Is Canada starting any V2G trials? There are a few starting in the US over last 6 months.
