We mostly talked about the challenges of having four different versions of their DC fast chargers. Electrify America currently uses units made by ABB, BTC, Signet, and Efacec. Every time they have a software or hardware update, it has to be done on all four brands, and they don't always all work the same afterward. Fitezek has to work out the kinks with all four partners and they all respond on different timelines. I could see that this was clearly a pain point for him.

Cause DOJ made em do it. There is little doubt in my mind that VW would not have put up a single station for anyone without the DOJ's help.

VW has done what the DOJ requires. In terms of CHAdeMO, they have done exactly the minimum and nothing more. I don't see them doing any more unless the minimum is changed. It's just not a compelling business case to lose more money than they already have just to support a competitor's EV. I can't see them ever breaking even on investing in more CHAdeMO ports.
