This is going to add $200m (probably triple that by the time they are done) to the cost of this project and it won't be ready until 2035 - 2040? Also the cost estimate probably doesn't include the cost of the electricity. Or do they plan to have an ability to selectively charge only those cars that subscribed?
That money would be much better invested in charging stations. 19 miles (in only 1 lane each way) along one route isn't likely to spur many people to modify their EVs for wireless charging and even fewer to adopt EVs. But a pervasive infrastructure of charging stations in each commercial and public parking lot and along street parking could make a real impact in EV acceptance.
I'm all for encouraging the adoption of EVs. But please let's not throw away dollars and claim to be green when we are actually hurting the cause. :roll:
