More will come...

Cole Porter anyone?

Don't miss the chance to drive the RAV4 EV on the test course. There is room to accelerate, maneuver and burn some rubber.

Nice to see everyone and talk. Considering that this wasn't an EV event, it was surprising how much EV networking occurred. Hopefully it will lead to some very valuable results. Plug-In America was well represented by Richard, his kids and a friend.

Met a new member of the Leaf community named Chris at Mitsubishi. Boomer- if he attends the meeting Saturday, be sure to ask him about the plug-in Panamera!

Edit: Anyone interested in dust caps or dummy inlets for your J plug? http://erroneus.myevblog.com/buy-plastic-parts-here/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I might order some. It may be beneficial to do a bulk order to save on shipping.
Alternatively, you can get a 1.5" rubber cap for under $3 at Lowes, Home Depot, etc. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Fernco-1-1-2-in-PVC-DWV-Flexible-Cap-PQC-101/100372302?keyword=018578000483#.UlRR_CQtpgI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Something like these flexible caps might be good,
although I would prefer yellow, or even red,
instead of the black. I just guessed the size.

I went back to the Decathlon this afternoon for a few hours to see the houses that I'd missed and to test ride some electric bikes.

I really liked the UNLV, Stanford, Cal Tech and Austria houses, and I was glad I went back.

There were still lines at some of the houses, but today the crowds were retired couples and groups of professionals wearing business wear and carrying cameras. I asked a question once and three people in the crowd responded before the house team member had a chance to say anything. Pretty funny.

I was amazed at the UNLV house by the decorative screen walls on the patio. The scene of a mesquite branch is made ENTIRELY of large and small dots laser drilled into metal sheets. There are no colors or pigments added to the metal. It's just incredible. I'll attach three pics that I took with my iPhone. One of the pics is a close-up so that you can see the different sized holes in the metal. It's hard to believe that all of the design is created only by those holes. I was told that the artist took a photo, made it greyscale in a computer and then used that image to guide the laser drill. Impressive.

(Note: there are colored items on the other side of the screen wall, so there is some color visible, but it's just some extraneous materials stacked on the blacktop.)

I went yesterday morning, and for my first pass down the houses,
most were not open yet. I ended up helping at the Plug In America
booth for a couple of hours, and then saw the Solar car (impressive)
on the way to drive the RAV4EV, which was great.

Getting tired, I looked at about 5 houses on the way out, and
had some nice chats with the students about there life-altering
two-year experience with their Solar House project.

Was Tom's LEAF parked up front?

I hope to go back today.
See you tomorrow at the Gathering in Cerritos.

A nice Gathering last Saturday at the Hometown Buffet in Cerritos.

Our next Gathering is Saturday Oct 26th at the Hometown Buffet
in Santa Ana on 17th street, just 2 blocks East of the I5 freeway.

Cheers, Gary

Next Gathering, Saturday, one week from today, in Santa Ana.

Who is likely to make it?

I plan to attend.
Robert is otherwise obligated.
Boomer is likely, as usual.

I hope to have my Due and Display based mini-QC simulator,
and a simulator for the car's QC Port to show.

But, I admit, only vaguely interesting, even to nerds. :D

Anybody need/want an Android "phone" or bluetooth OBD device?

I'm a good bet to be there, Gary. No real surprise there, though, right?

I will try to make this one. Although, I think the distance may require I take that "other" EV.
Too bad, since I'd like to get an Ah reading on the LEAF from someone's Android Bluetooth thing.
Maybe at the next Cerritos meet-up.

I can stop by to get a reading on your Leaf. Send me a PM.

I'll be working the CNPS Plant Sale and membership drive at Tree of Life nursery in SJC ***shameless plug*** that afternoon, but will be stopping by Santa Ana for breakfast first.

I plan to be there tomorrow.

Gary, I am looking for an electrical clip for temporarily attaching a grounding cable to a pipe, etc. I am thinking bigger than an alligator clip but smaller than the clamps on jumper cables. Would your vast, highly-organized personal electronic warehouse be able to provide such an item at a reasonable price ?

Tom,
See you tomorrow.
Possibly use an automotive hose clamp, and just stick
the wire under the band of the hose clamp?
Or, just clip an ordinary alligator clip to the hose clamp.

Good Gathering, with 10 participants, I believe.
Good to see you all.

Apparently there is some happening in Temecula on 9 Nov,
but I doubt that I will make it. However, what is going on there?
Perhaps somebody can post a summary here?

Should we Gather in Cerritos on the 9th of November, and
then on the 23rd in Santa Ana?

The 7th and the 21st are probably best for December.

Opinions, and suggestions, plesse. :D

CHARGING SPOTS:

There are free CHAdeMO chargers at Mossy Nissan in three locations; Oceanside, Kearny Mesa and Poway.

Plus, another Blink CHAdeMO (need Blink card) in Escondido at the Best Western Hotel @ 1700 Seven Oakes Road, Escondido, CA

There are several free Clipper Creek J1772 charge stations in Old Town Temecula.

Pechanga Casino has 5 free J1772 200V 30A charging stations in their parking structure. It is regular parking, not valet parking, and you do not have to be a guest. It is probably about 2 miles from Old Town Temecula.

Do you mean the 9th and 23rd (the Saturday before Thanksgiving)?

The 27th would be Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving.

If you are intending to go to Temecula on the 9th,
certainly do not let the Cerritos Gathering stop you.
You can bring the good stories back to those who
were not able (or brave enough) to go that far.

More suggestions?

Yes, the 23rd. You caught me. :)

I'm not intending to go to Temecula on the 9th, I have a family commitment at 11 that morning, but could likely make Cerritos for a while during the early part of the morning.

Thanks Gary.
