Notice where he'll be working? ;)
Nissan Motor Co. (7201) said it’s hiring the senior auto reviewer for Consumer Reports magazine to be the carmaker’s new executive adviser on vehicle quality.

David Champion, senior director of Consumer Reports Auto Test Center, will work at Nissan’s vehicle testing center in Stanfield, Arizona, the company said yesterday in a statement. Champion, who worked as a Nissan engineer from 1994 to 1997, will report to Steve Monk, Nissan’s director of vehicle evaluation and testing, the Yokohama, Japan-based company said...

He should have great insights into what testers are looking for when they review new cars. That would be valuable information to have, especially early in the development cycle.

It sounds like heads are rolling over there. I guess telling the mother ship that the batteries can handle Phoenix didn't work out so well.
Too funny! Yet another reason for more people to report the battery issue to Consumer Reports and let Nissan know we are doing it. Who better than Champion to realize how damaging this could be.
