Hi, everyone.

Have been driving my Leaf for just over a month and am loving every second behind the wheel. Just found out about this forum.

I have a 100 mile (round trip) commute so I bought a charging station (Blink) for my workplace also. The Leaf gets me to and from with a minimum of range anxiety.

Best,

Chuck

To follow up about Thoroughbred:
They do not have a Nissan tech. I don't know if he quit or was fired. I also don't know how long they have been without a tech. They have another tech in training, but he won't be back until September 3rd. It really surprises me that they would put themselves in that position. When I called Jim Click, they mentioned that they had 2 or 3 Leaf techs.

Jason, I talked to R.J. at Thoroughbred and he told me that their LEAF service technician did leave to take a job somewhere else, but two technicians have finished the training and are on site now. R.J. has moved to the finance department. Michelle Lipinski has taken over at the LEAF sales specialist. She is also the internet sales coordinator. Zach Stephens was trained to be a LEAF sales specialist last summer. Then sometime last winter he was promoted to Service Manager, so he has a background in the LEAF.

Click Nissan might have more techs, but have you ever been there and tried to get someone to help you with something? I went there 3 times last summer with questions about the LEAF and they could tell me nothing. They said they would find out and contact me and never did. They were always too busy to look it up while I was there, even when I made an appointment to meet the LEAF person.

I'll stick with Thoroughbred. Everyone there has been very friendly and helpful.

Maybe we can get this cleared up at the meet, because I was told I would not be able to get the Carwings software update until after Sept 3rd. My carwings has magically fixed itself so I can now wait, but had it stayed broken I would have gone all the way up to Jim Click.

I would prefer to stick with Thoroughbred. They seem enthusiastic about the Leaf and they are much closer to me.

EVJerry pointed this out in an email - a pair of Blink charging stations are having their "grand opening" in Sahuarita next Saturday. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=109518899147036

Sahuarita? Really? Is this the same Sahuarita I remember with a population of around 5,000 people?

Congratulations Sahuarita !!!!!!!! Phoenix grand openings this weekend...hmmmm.......... (cricket chirp)

8 Libraries are getting charging stations this month:

KVOA and KOLD had segments about the new charging stations. I couldn't find the video for KOLD, their site isn't set up very well.

For anyone planning on getting the telematics/carwings NTB11-041 update at Thoroughbred:
I was their "trial by fire" person on this one. I had an appointment at 8:30 yesterday morning. After I got there it took about 2 hours before they decided that there was an actual update for them to perform. Before that they kept telling me that the only update they could find was already done on my car (the initial one dealing with the car not always starting).

I tell you, it did not inspire confidence when I went out to my car during this and their Leaf tech was sitting there with what looked like the owner's manual.

They eventually were able to find the service bulletin and told me it was a large "29 page document". To their credit they recognized this was going to take a while and gave me a rental car for the day (gas powered, of course) while they got it figured out. At around 3pm they called me and let me know the car was ready to go.

Hopefully now that they have gone through it with my car it will go smoother for anyone else that brings theirs in for this update. Good luck!

All well and good that Tucson is getting more charging stations, but since I cannot get Blink to issue me a RFID card they are of no use to me. Anyone know if the Blink at Bookman's requires a card?

It took me about 2-3 weeks to get my Blink Card. It gets there...eventually. The Bookman's in Mesa is a Chargepoint station, not Blink, so you need a Chargepoint card. You can call Blink if you're at a Blink station and they'll turn on the charge for you. I believe they have 24/7 customer support.

I went into Bookmans on Ina the other day and they said they would " unlock" the charge point station if I asked.. Since I didn't need a charge I didn't try it. ( as a matter of fact I've not used any public charging yet)

Tomorrow I plan to do a 60 mile round trip from Marana to Rita Ranch and back. Hopefully I'll make it

My commute is normally 40 miles and I've been doing 80%, getting home with 3 or 4 bars depending on the heat and traffic.. so charging all the way and only going 60 should work

As for the Blink card, I got mine before I got the car.. just asked for it on line in July...

There are two charging stations at Tucson Botanical Gardens. One has the Blink logo and requires a card, the other has a blank screen and does not require a card. Strange. There are three at Oro Valley Library, one in a Disabled Parking space! Can't imagine that one will get used much.

I read somewhere on this forum that there's some kind of law that requires things like charging station to be easily accessible to disabled people as well. So that's why they tend to put them right up front. It looks like in this case they made it easy on themselves and put it right in a Handicap space as well.

Have other Tucson LEAF owners lost capacity bars like the Phoenix owners are reporting? I lost one last month shortly after my one-year service.

I am getting close. My 80% charge shows a lower number of GOM miles, plus a couple of times the charge gave me only 9 bars.
I'm a bit worst off. Pretty much all my 80% charging gives my 9 bars and my GOM is about 10 miles lower than it was 6 months ago. I have about 9K miles on the car and have had it for 13 months.

Did you report your bar loss on the main capacity loss thread? I think you'd be the first Tucsonian on the list.

We are heading to a club that I don't want to join. I am just one week short of my one year mark, with only 6,000 miles. My 80% charge went from 83 GOM to 74 GOM. I do my 80% charge around 6 in the morning and leave around 9 so it is not spending significant time even at 80%. And my 5.6 m/kwh tells you how I drive. If I knew all this I would have leased. In the past year I have seen only 3 other Leafs.
