I have searched the forum but have not been able to find an exact answer, just hints that it may be possible

Is it possible to swap a 30kWh battery pack into a 2014 leaf and by swapping the vcm and key fob from the same 30kWh donor vehicle everything works properly like it was a factory 30kWh leaf?

Thanks in advance for any replies

I think it takes more than just swapping the keyfob and VCM but the 30kWh pack is nearly identical to a 2014 24kWh pack on the outside AFAIK. The biggest effort (besides the physical heft of the batteries) is getting the electronics to work. I think you will need a CAN bridge to do that since things like capacity, time to fully charge, etc will change.

I haven't kept up with the latest developments, but in short, it's possible and I'm pretty sure someone has already done this.

Much more is required than just a VCM swap to fit a newer/larger battery pack into a Gen1 Leaf. As mentioned, a CAN bridge/translator is just one of the things required. While there are plenty of threads about this on the forum, you can read about my experience with a 24kWh->40kWh upgrade (https://www.electricauto.org/blog/keeping-your-nissan-leaf)

This post indicates that a 2013-2015 can be upgraded with matching 30kwhr battery and vcm. I included the key fob to avoid needing to re-code the original key to the vcm

A 2016-2017 can use either a 24kwhr or 30kwhr battery with only a vcm - battery pairing being needed

I understand that 40kwhr battery swap requires can bridge

But I have acquired a 30kwhr battery and vcm, so was wanting confirmation that it is possible without a can bridge as the above post indicates

Contact Dala at https://dalasevrepair.fi/ He's in Finland but speaks great English, is very helpful and probably knows as much about this sort of thing as anyone in the world. He also can sell you any parts you may (or may not) need to do the swap.
