Hopefully my fruitless search for existing threads was exhaustive enough. Sorry if it wasn't.

Have purchased a 6.6kw OBC from a wrecker for my 2018 ZE1 S, and it fitted up fine, software detected the upgrade okay, but the car detects charger as always connected (so when I start the car it says can't start pull out charge plug" and I'm getting a "service EV system" warning.

I've posted to ozleaf forum (https://ozleaf.proboards.com/thread/1265/ze1-charging-system-upgrade-6kw) where some good ideas are emerging to work around the proximity signal, but it occurred to me that the audience here might be larger where people have dealt with factory 6.6kw upgrade while retaining the J1772 port.

Thanks heaps.

The chances of folks here being able to help are low. This is a US-centric forum and all '18+ US-market Leafs ship with a 6.6 kW OBC. See specs tab of https://usa.nissannews.com/en-US/releases/release-77b5f147884a4439bd10c4d9207f2237-us-2018-nissan-leaf-press-kit.

Ahh, ty for that insight. Had no idea.

In Aus and NZ we have a lot of Japanese (where 3.3kw/Chademo ZE1 vehicles are sold) grey imports, at well below usual prices, so this might be a challenge which is particular to ours and Japan's market.

Of course, being Australian, I never bothered with any language but English so can't benefit from the Japanese mod forums I assume are out there...

There are a few - just a handful of - people who have upgraded the 3.3kw onboard charger to the 6.6, but most of them were, IIRC, upgrading the pre-2013 Gen I Leaf. You'd want to focus on those who have upgraded a 2013+ Leaf S to the 6.6kw OBC. The Gen II Leaf is essentially a Gen I with extensive changes made, rather than a complete redesign, so you may have some luck that way. Maybe one of our Crack Searchers like Cwerdna can help you search the forum for those upgrades. My own somewhat unreliable memory doesn't recall the particular error that you've encountered, but the folks doing the upgrade may have encountered and fixed it without noting it...

Correct, I've never heard of anyone upgrading a post '12 Leaf in N. America but I suppose it could have been done. Before that I believe it was called a Bursa charger which was wired up to a pre '13 Leaf and doubled the charging speed. I for one would love to do that to our ordered Toyota Rav4 Prime which unfortunately comes with a 3.3kw charger, to get a 6.6kw charger would have cost $10k more! top model with an upgraded package, I'd have gladly paid even $1000 to just get the upgraded charger but no, one has to get the top of the top-line model :x

For '11 and '12 Leafs, the extra OBC was from Brusa: https://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=12323. That likely makes 0 sense for a '13+ Leaf since '11 and '12 Leaf has its OBC in the rear hatch area. Car is totally different under the hood.

https://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=21106&start=30 has a guy upgrading his '13+ (but before '18) Leaf to 6.6 kW OBC.

Wow, as much as I might like that 6.6kw charger I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be undertaking that project, too many unrelated things need to be taken apart, not a simple job IMO. Cool it worked for the OP though.

I'm willing to wager 2 AUS pennies on the OP's OBC being wired up incorrectly.
OP needs a friend with a 6.6 kW OBC LEAF he can take a look at.

Or perhaps the LEAF tech manual ?

Thought #2: Use LeafSpy to reset DTCs, or disconnect 12v for 10 minutes to reset ECUs

Thought #3: An ECU needs a setting updated. That might require use of the Nissan 'Consult' interface
