Not mentioned in the article is the lower operational cost of EVs....

Some are better choices than others.

A lot of USPS vehicles drive predictable short distances at low speeds with lots of stops. A horrorshow for an ICE. Great for EVs.

It will be interesting to see the details. There has been a push for hybrid vehicles in the fleet in the past, but the only 4X4 SUV available at the time was not suitable for off road use (reduced ground clearance due to lowered suspension for improved aerodynamics along with battery mounted underneath and no spare tire to reduce weight). I agree that EV's would be great for local use and it looks like there will be some plug in hybrid SUV's with reasonable off road capability available in the not-to-distant future.

Just in time! I had another orphaned bolt leftover yesterday after reassembling the clothes dryer.

100k Leaf order in the bag.
This assumes Nissan wants to play.

At one or more EVents where a Nissan corporate rep (usually marketing guy) flew over to the Bay Area from Nissan NA HQ in TN, he has said that Nissan doesn't participate in Federal contracts. It sounded like it was company policy due to too many headaches w/the GAO (e.g. paperwork/overhead). That was years ago, before Ghosn's arrest so I don't know if that still stands.

That said, if Nissan wants to play, they've at least got LHD and RHD versions of e-NV200 EV van and Leaf vs. Bolt which never got mirrored. For USPS, you'd think for their replacement for their ancient LLVs, they'd want the steering wheel close to the curb for delivery... https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a34864291/usps-grumman-llv-truck-contract/ claims there are only 3 players left in that bid. I came across https://www.autoblog.com/2018/03/07/usps-mail-truck-prototype-spy-shots/ years ago.
