They say first quarter of 2012. Wanna bet it will be a LOT longer? Meanwhile, CHAdeMOs will already be installed and in use. Once people see that GM/Detroit is behind this 'change', they will lose MUCHO business.

I actually like just calling it level 3. having level 1 to 3 in AC and then 1 to 3 in DC is something I'm not even going to try to explain that to a lay person, unless they REALLY want to know! :D Then again, I wish we had better, consumer friendly terms to start with!

I like QC because it's shorter and more accurate.

Yes, but we have Quick Charge versus DC Fast Charge, I have to change which term I use depending on the audience. I think outside the LEAF Quick Charge doesn't have a specific meaning to people... If we could all agree to one term, whatever it is, that's easy... Maybe after we have a standard between SAE and ChaDEMO for a Quick Charge / DC Fast Charge, we might get a term for it.

I'd almost go for just the kW rating... at least then consumers could identify that bigger numbers means faster charging even if they don't know waht a kW is....

I don't know if this has posted yet or not. Ecotality's DC QC plans for TN:

Nice! Looks like it might have semi-reasonable cost being a compact dual unit. Looks like it charges both at once... 500V * 120A = 60 kW each or 120 kW for the site when two quick charges are simultaneous. I think 2 QCs at a site if pretty imporant to reduce issues where you need a Quick Charge and someone is already using it, or worse, they're getting a Quick Charge and need one (vs. 5+ hours at 240V) but have gone of and done something else for 2 hours like watching a movie but their car finished in 30 minutes, and now the charger occupied but not charging for the remaining hour and a half.

Ahh.. these are just the heads, there's a large box someplace feeding these. I knew better, 120 kW of power electronics won't fit in that svelte pedestal!

Nissan has one that will fit into that pedestal - they'll probably have one that fits 2 into the same space in another year at the rate they're improving their DC quick charge stations.

Here we go (I hope).

Tennessee L3 chargers get installed October thru December this year. Let's hope this is not another PR event with no follow-up

Between WA, OR and TN it sure does seem like CHAdeMO is going to be the defacto standard in a matter of a couple of months!
