You gotta learn how to read bureaucratic doublespeak. First, note that they said, "up to 50." It turns out that 0 is less than 50, so they have already met that goal. Now, the next part is a bit more tricky. What they mean, though they didn't exactly say it, is that their $1.3m funding came from a government pool, and that pool "helped to fund 400 Level 2 J1772 chargers, 6 DC fast chargers, and the first Battery-Swap station in North America." So, where's the battery swap station? I dunno, but I guess it could be that it's been funded, but not built yet.

How do I know all this? Pure logic. DC fast chargers contracted and installed by a government agency are going to cost at least $50k each. J1772 stations will cost them at least $5K apiece. That's already $300K + $2000k and we haven't allowed for the probable 15% agency overhead. Let's see ... how much does that leave out of $1300k for the battery swap station?

I believe the Etec Level 3 (Quick Charge) "UL Listing" certifications may have just occurred (at least for Models GP-208K1, GP-480K1, and GP-600K1):

Thanks for the link Waidy! That's the first time I've seen a picture of an actual SAE dc fast charging connector. I'd seen illustrations at shows, but not actual connector hardware. It would be nice if SAE could this out fast, so we can have the DC fast charge standards war quickly and mercifully and then pick a winner ChaDEMO or the SAE, but just have it settled so that future investments in fast charging aren't wasted - PARTICULARLY THE VEHICLE PORTS!! Makes me sick how the discussions at conferences, among stakeholders often say, oh the fast charger can be converted to ChaDEMO or the SAE standard, completely ignoring the costs to consumers of having DC fast charge ports in their cars that may be obsolete - SAE or ChaDEMO - depending on who wins the battle. And the likelihood of an international standard that all countries use which would help to reduce costs, seems a bit remote...

I guess being part of the first wave, we're taking some of the risks and working all of these issues so that EVs are even better, easier and less expensive to use with a robust charging infrastructure for the next wave. Drive Electric!

Sorry, but I don't see any mention of L3 or Level 3 in that article. They do talk about ac and dc Level 1 and Level 2.

The standards committees have come up with really lousy names when you try to keep this all straight.

Roughly speaking:

"Level 1" (CARB) = "AC Level 1" (J1772) (SAE) = 120V <= 1.9 kW
"Level 2" (CARB) = "AC Level 2" (J1772) (SAE) = 240V <= 19.2 kW
none (CARB) = "AC Level 3" (TBD) (SAE) = 240V > 19.2 kW, single or 3 phase

"Level 3" (CARB definition) = DC Fast Charge any level

"DC Level 1" (SAE) = DC, < 36 kW
"DC Level 2" (SAE) = DC, < 90 kW = "Quick Charge" 49 kW (Nissan)
"DC Level 2" (SAE) = DC, > 90 kW
