NISSAN dealers in the UK seem to be getting L3 / CHAdeMO, whereas in the US they just have J1772.
( About 15x slower to recharge... )

I opted to not purchase the L3 QC option, thinking that it would take 2 - 3 years to get the infrastructure in place. Then I'll trade in my Leaf for a Leaf 3.0 with faster 240v charging and the QC option.

Seems that 2 - 3 years may have been optimistic.
 
To be most effective, the QC stations need to be located at strategic locations, not some store/resturant locations that are 3 to 10 miles from major freeway/traffic-path exits or intersections.
 
Supposedly waiting for UL approval?

Somehow Portland, OR allowed one to be operational though.

Precisely why I put the QC on my car. I figure QC stations will be prevalent about the time I want to sell the car, and by having one on my car, it should be worth more than one without it.

No real details, but I find it interesting that we (USA) keeps promoting L2 and we keep working on our own standards for faster chargin instead of deploying the CHADeMo standard. L2 is a waste of time, and there is already a world standard for DC charging with the CHADeMo system. [foil hat on] It seems like GM is still working to kill EV development in the US. [/foil hat on]

Yes! GM producing a gasoline powered "EV" means that they have no skin in the game for opportunity charging. In fact, GM has an intense incentive to block and prevent public charging since this infrastructure would make the Volts gas engine irrelevant. This is the core deception by GM and the Trojan Horse feature of their Volt program.

Next step for GM's anti-EV scheme??!!??

Announce a cheaper Volt by getting rid of batteries. Yup. GM will state that to "improve" their "EV" they will DECREASE it's range from 40 miles to 20 miles!!! A huge improvement if your real goal is to prevent people from driving electric. Stay tuned.

Fast charging is what makes an EV as close as it gets to an ICE when it comes to driving longer distances: The Vacaville station made a round day trip between San Francisco and Sacramento possible.

US autocarmakers and their best buddies the oil companies are using the SAE and UL to make sure EV remains a niche market because they want to keep the US consumers addicted to oil and all of its byproducts. That's how they are making billions and they are desperate to maintain this situation until we hit the wall with an environmental disaster, world war over the last drop of oil, US bankruptcy or all of the above.

Do something about this: write to your representative and let them know that the lack of vision for electric cars by US automakers should not be the burden of the american consumers who believe in electric cars. It's time they prove that they don't just talk the talk about electric cars and start walking the walk.
 
I'm pretty sure that GM sold the EV1 battery technology to an oil company and killed the EV1 because they were dedicated to the clean car revolution, however I could be mistaken.
