However, I guess maybe I need to understand if the nut types between the 16" steel and 17" alloys are the same, (seating, etc)?
Does anyone have a pic of their 17" alloy wheel nut?
It's unlikely Nissan is using different stud or lug nuts for aluminum vs. steel wheels. However, I'm a little OCD and always get a 2nd set of new/clean lug nuts that I reserve for the aluminum wheels (and never intermix them or use them with the with the steelies). Why???...The steel wheels will tend to wear grooves in the contact seats of the nuts, that can cause wear problems on the softer aluminum wheel seats. Also, if you drove through the corrosive road chemicals that I do, you would want a special set of lug nuts to basically trash with winter use with the winter steelie's. I'm thinking about getting a set of 16" steelies for my '19 Leaf, but that would be a complete package (wheels, TPMS sensors, winter tires, plastic wheel covers, and dedicated lug nuts).
