I was there in the midst of the march and rally with Greta Thunberg in NYC. The speech she gave was quite different at the rally compared to the UN speech. She was quite composed and to the point at the rally. I don't know what happened to her at the UN. I had hoped she would be more like she was at the rally.

It's quite despairing to see how slow people are to embrace fighting climate change. I feel her pain and am glad I could help show there is a growing number of people joining the fight. NYC says there was 60,000 people there. I would like to see that number go up at each of these events, even if Greta is only there in spirit. There's a local Long Island event this Friday and I will be there too.

Here we are about 6 weeks later.
I don't think anyone cared or noticed.
Doesn't appear to be anything that resembles a lasting effect.

Kind of like if all these people demanding something be done go replace their gas burner with an electric car and say no to natural gas if they have natural gas and install a heat pump.

Individual hypocrisy is basic human nature. What matters more is what we as a global society accomplish. The problem is that don't seem to have the instinctual behaviors needed to survive at this technological level. I've said it before, but I now suspect that the universe is littered with dead or nearly dead planets destroyed by either nuclear war or runaway warming (or, in some cases, cooling) caused by the dominant technological species.

Too bad Ecomodder site admin shut down the climate change thread. It was 8000 posts and some very good information and links.

My main emphasis has been in working with Nate Hagens to promote the information he teaches in his class at U. Minnesota. He calls Reality 101. Which is a systems view of energy, economy, ecology, resources depletion, human behavior. How it all fits together. So we can accept and start working for a whole new way of resilience as we approach the limits to exponential growth on a finite planet.

Watch the video lecture series he threw together.

That sounds more rational than global warming is going to kill everyone if we don't institute communism now.
Which is funny because communist superpowers have historically had absolutely atrocious environmental policies.

That sounds more rational than global warming is going to kill everyone if we don't institute communism now.

This is a perfect example of what is called a "strawman argument." You claim that someone is saying something that they are not in fact arguing at all, and then rebut that false claim, which is easy to knock down. Thus the term "strawman."

What else would you call the demand for implementing a centrally planned government to control the economy and force everyone to live their lives in a highly dictated manor in the name of saving the planet?

I couldn't help but notice you didn't offer any explanation besides calling it a straw man which is a weak dodge.
I called it for exactly what it is and we both know it.

Not my fault parents turned out off spring that are little more than children with drivers licenses who are offended by everything.

It's not that we disagree, or that your language is too rough (if it were I'd let you know). It's that you don't seem to even know the meanings of the terms that you use; they are straight off of talk radio...except that even those folks have finally gotten that socialism isn't communism. Ah, well. Back to not clicking on your posts...

Supposedly bread lines in Venezuela.

The difference between communism and social socialism is if it were communism in the picture the line would end at a mass grave.
I'm well aware of the difference.

Yes, and that is 100% the fault of socialism and not decades of forcing coups, regime change policies and other destabilisation tactics from the American government. That must explain why Norway is such a socialistic hellhole.

Pretty sure the catalyst for Norway's wealth is all the oil they've pumped over the years. Got a mini Saudi Arabia thing going. Admittedly they've done a better job of spreading it around in a productive manner.
