I used to run Continentals on my old light weight street bikes. My 2002 BMW came with Michelin sport touring tires. I like the performance and they last long enough to be cost effective so I have been using them for the past 17 years.
 
I recommend pretty much any well-reviewed tire that isn't made by a Chinese brand. The tire market for cars is being flooded with crappy Chinese branded (as opposed to international brands made in China) tires, and I expect it's the same with motorcycle tires.
