I never drive my 2020 SV+ more than 100 miles per day, so I'm fine with sacrificing a little range to get more rubber on the road.

My plan A is to buy 7.5" or 8" wide wheels and put 235 or 245mm wide tires on them. Plan B is to shove 235/45/17 tires onto the stock 6.5" wheels.

Has anyone attempted either of those things? What did you think? Did the tire poke out of the wheel well? I think I can keep it right on the edge.

It is possible to fit wider tires on your 2020 Nissan Leaf SV+. However, it is important to note that there are a few factors to consider before doing so.

First, wider tires will typically have a lower rolling resistance and better traction, but they may also decrease the range of your vehicle due to the increased energy required to move them. Additionally, wider tires may also increase the wear and tear on the suspension and steering components of your vehicle.

Second, it is also important to note that the width of the tire is not the only factor that determines its fitment. The sidewall height (the aspect ratio) of the tire also plays a role in determining the overall diameter of the tire.

Lastly, it is also important to make sure that the tires you choose will fit within the wheel well of your vehicle without rubbing against other components.

Based on your plan, Plan A is the most recommended, as it is easier to fit within the wheel well of your vehicle, while plan B is more challenging as you are putting wider tires on the stock wheels which may cause rubbing and other issues.

If you decide to go through with fitting wider tires, it is recommended that you consult with a professional mechanic or a tire specialist to ensure that the tires you choose will be compatible with your vehicle and will not cause any issues.
