Running Inverters off the Leaf's 12v system

You could get 24V by putting 2 LEAFs in series.

Possible to reprogram cigarette lighter plug to stay active?

You should wire a battery tender to the battery. But you can run your always-on dash cam from the OBD port, which has both switched and non-switched 12V. You can even buy a dedicated OBD to micro USB adapter for exactly this purpose.

    EVmatch

    Or it's Plugshare.

Leaf going into emergency shut-down while sliding on snow

If the whole car shut down, I'd guess a weak 12V battery.

Using Charge Timer is it good practice

No, the 13/14 cars have BOTH methods of choosing 80%. If you do it in settings, the override button doesn't affect it, but if you set a charge % using the timer, the override button makes it use the value from the settings instead of the timer.

    Snubbing Hybrids

My 2000 Honda Insight looks about 3 years old, has 160,000 miles, and still gets 60 mpg regularly. And I love the stick shift.

considering a used leaf for short term/commute

I agree don't bother with a 10 bar car unless there is a great discount for it. I don't know what it's like in Nor Cal, but in my area, capacity losses don't seem to be priced in correctly. (That is, you can easily get a 12 bar car for the same or just a few hundred more than a Leaf with 10 bars.)

ESVE for older home with 30 amp service

It would be neat to make an Open EVSE with an ammeter measuring the current being drawn by the rest of the house. It can keep adjusting the charging current to keep the total below the service limit.

Getting Door Repainted. Nissan: "Take Out Battery First"

I mentioned this in another thread, so sorry for the rerun. The shop I used, after I told them about the battery, painted my door and fender on Friday afternoon, and left it in the unheated booth over the weekend to air dry until Monday.

    Shortening cable on Clipper Creek?

A coil and a few zip ties should shorten it.

    Mod the Regen?

Why? To test the battery warranty?

    140 degree Leaf roast

I needed painting done, and when I explained to the guys at the body shop about the battery, they painted the car on Friday and left it in the booth (at normal ambient temperature) to air dry until Monday.

    Wiper service position, ice&frost protection

It works for me, but on my 2013, I have to pull the stick back, not up.

    air conditioner problem

Leftie, 2 months ago, my 2013 SV blew an A/C hose. Destination Nissan even denied my extended warranty coverage, because the warranty only covers "hard parts." So replacing the rubber parts and recharging the system cost me $600. My local independent said he could have done it for $400. He...

How Long Have You Had A Leaf?

jjeff, my 2013 SV showed 100% SOH for three years. Then, between April and today it dropped to 94%. SOH is a weird thing, and seems very unpredictable.

    One Benefit of Rapid Depreciation

I have been thinking about taking advantage of the depreciation by buying another Leaf.

2011 Leaf defaulting to neutral when charging

My 2013 won't open the charge door unless the car is off. When I turn the car off, it goes into park. Is the 2011 different, or are you leaving the charge door open when you start the car to create this condition?

Extended warranty again LOL... need help

Nav console, electronics in the door handle, power windows, heated mirrors, heated seats front and rear, heated steering wheel, onboard charger, telematics, GPS. So much stuff that can go wrong. I bought the extended warranty for 10yr/100kmi for $1400 and figure I'm ahead if I use it once.

Search the forum for "guess-o-meter", and never pay attention to that number again. :)
