Starting the Buyback process on 2016 SV

Buyback was completed yesterday, so now I'm car shopping!

    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

Completed our buyback yesterday, now trying to find a replacement for our LEAF, which can be a real struggle here in the Midwest! The lack of tax credit on the Ariya and limited range makes it somewhat less attractive (though my wife loves the interior). It looks like VW is finally starting to...

After July 1, 2023 - Nissan is planning on “remanufacturing” 30kWh batteries for 2016 8 bar warranty not 40 kWh new?

I'd contact Nissan Customer Care and ask them directly, when I did that, they started the buyback process for our 2016 SV without me even asking.

Starting the Buyback process on 2016 SV

I posted an update in the larger buyback thread with the details.

    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

We should be turning in our 2016 SV in the next week or so, I was told the check was approved and on the way. This is going to turn out to be a MUCH better financial outcome than a new battery would have been, as the mileage charge for us amounted to only $3700. We leased the car in January...

    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

Our Nissan dealer never offered us a loaner, so I guess you're lucky there. I'd probably decide it was a great time to tour the National Parks of the West if I was given a loaner for six months. :) We're now on month 8 of waiting for a new battery, and our dealership still can't get an ETA...

Starting the Buyback process on 2016 SV

Still going back and forth with Nissan Arbitration over paperwork. They keep asking for documentation from my lienholder, I keep pointing out that the car has been paid off for a number of years and I have a clear title, which I have scanned for them. Going to try to convince my bank to dig...

    2017 Leaf battery warranty

We've been waiting for the battery for our 2016 SV since October, so I find 5 months to be ridiculously optimistic on the part of your dealer. Dealership contacted me yesterday to say they still have no ETA, and I'm working on getting the final paperwork to Nissan Arbitration for our buyback offer.

Starting the Buyback process on 2016 SV

After a lot of test drives in the last week, I think we're going to land on a Bolt EUV to replace the LEAF. My wife liked the Ariya too, but it's just stupidly expensive, I could buy a Model Y Long Range for the same price after tax credit, have faster charging and like 130 more miles of range...

Starting the Buyback process on 2016 SV

Still ongoing! I paid off the loan several years ago, but Nissan Arbitration wants the loan statements so they can calculate how much interest to refund to us, and my bank has been taking forever to find my loan information. Stopped by the branch in person today and spoke with the branch...

Starting the Buyback process on 2016 SV

As far as I can tell the LEAF no longer qualifies for any tax credit after April 18, 2023: https://fueleconomy.gov/feg/tax2023.shtml

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

Have been waiting for a replacement for our 2016 SV since October, car had 55K miles on it when it lost the 4th bar. Still no ETA and when I contacted Nissan they told me that they have no ETA for a battery and can't even say for sure if one will ever be built for our car, so they'd like to buy...

Starting the Buyback process on 2016 SV

I'll bring the LEAF up to her and see if she wants to look at it, though with no tax credit and CHAdeMO, it's not a terribly attractive car at the moment. She's also somewhat bitter about losing the ability to turn on her heater remotely in the winter when the 3G network went offline, as that...

Starting the Buyback process on 2016 SV

We took our 2016 LEAF SV in last October to start the battery warranty process, the car had about 55,000 miles on it at the time. Now we're into May and still no ETA on a new battery, and Nissan arbitration has called me to start the process to buy back the car. We leased it new for $0...

    End of Lease Strategies?

We're reaching the end of our lease this month on our 2016 SV. We have 33,000 miles on it (though we slowed down quite a bit after the first 7 months with the car, when we moved closer to my wife's employer). Payoff on the car is $12,900, and we leased for $0 down, $270/month. Dealers here...

New 2016 SV slow to trickle charge

I talked my wife into seeing a movie tonight so we can leave it at the BMW dealership across the street to soak up some juice (I have never seen an i3 on their lot, so it will certainly be free). She was at 91% SOC when she left for work this morning, so maybe a once-weekly top-up at L2 will...

New 2016 SV slow to trickle charge

Well, she drove it Monday, came home right after work, and plugged in. By the time she would have left on Tuesday, she only had 11 bars. Tuesday (yesterday) we got hit by a blizzard, so actually both of our employers closed for the day, so she was back at 100% today. She may in fact be able...

New 2016 SV slow to trickle charge

To be clear, I wouldn't say the car is causing a problem for us. The actual charging times are right in line with what I expected, the initial estimates given by the car and the app were what was alarming to me, as I did not expect to ever be shown a 35+ hour recharge time at L1! My wife is...

New 2016 SV slow to trickle charge

Yep, she drove it yesterday, and now, 24 hours later, it's at 95% SOC, but that's without running any errands or going out for dinner. She could probably drive it all week like this, and then fully recharge again on the weekend, but I imagine we'll work something out...

New 2016 SV slow to trickle charge

Thanks! Yes, the car is working fine, the charge time estimates on the dash and in the app continue to be insanely long though. At 78% SOC this morning it was saying it would need 14:30 at Level 1 to charge, 6 hours at 3.6, and 4.5 hours at 6.6, which seems crazy. There isn't a lot of public...
