    End of Lease Strategies?

Just got a letter from NMAC offering me $7,000 off the lease residual value ($21,814) if I buy my 2012 Leaf SV. That's still $14,814 for a 2012 EV with 42k miles. I'm thinking that is not a good deal. I extended my original 24-month lease twice to end up with a 42-month lease, and I would be...

2016 Leaf Only - Pls Post Lease or Purchase deals.

Given that the 2016 SV/SL is sort of a 'stopgap' car until the next generation car, it would seem to me to be only sensible to lease it. Nissan must be smart enough though, to understand that the bottom is going to fall out of the 2016 SV/SL resale price once the nextgen comes out. That seems to...

Emergency Power Wiring Kit (for Nissan Leaf)

This wiring kit is pretty slick for a permanent clean installation, but if all I want to do is occasionally use a 1000W inverter when there is a power blackout (i.e. 1x or 2x/yr), is there anything wrong with just connecting my inverter to the 12v battery with jumper cables?

2016 Leaf Only - Pls Post Lease or Purchase deals.

The extended lease on my 2012 SV ends in April 2016. I had been hoping that one of the mythical 200-mile $35K cars would show up by then, but that is clearly not going to be the case. Leasing a 2016 SV might be the way to go; 3 years from now the EV landscape should be substantially changed. So...

    Leaf 2 coming out in ... 2018 ?

That's not addressed to me, right ? No, I just think that this is the funniest Leaf accessory I've seen, so it would be a great prize for a silly bet. In any event, I hope to see a $35K-200-mile car this decade. Or a unicorn. Whichever comes first.

    Leaf 2 coming out in ... 2018 ?

Yes, I DID mean to say the end of 2016. Every time I hear about the Bolt, GM is slipping the date another few months. Now they are saying second half of 2016, which I think means that they will make a dozen of them available in California during December 2016. BTW, I'm not just singling out...

    Leaf 2 coming out in ... 2018 ?

I'm prepared to place a bet that I can't buy a Chevy Bolt in Washington State that gets 200 miles in range for $35,000, by the end of 2015.

    Leaf 2 coming out in ... 2018 ?

It is disappointing to me that it may take that long for a Leaf 2 to hit the showrooms, but I'm not seeing anybody else on a faster timetable. Sure, we keep hearing about $35K 200-mile-range cars coming out from Tesla and Chevy, and possibly VW, but at this point they are all mythical beasts. Do...

extending a lease more than once?

Well, it DID get stickier than originally reported, as NMAC just informed me that my lease was ending in October 2015, when I had previously received paperwork showing that my lease was ending in April 2016. Although I have confirmation numbers and emails attesting to the fact that I first...

Different Level 2 EVSEs Charge to Different Levels?

I DO drive uphill to get home, and I drive downhill to get to work. I drive on level roads to get to my dealer though, which always yields the greatest GoM range. Still, it is on small roads, so the overall speed to get to the dealer is below average. Differences in the current and voltage...

Different Level 2 EVSEs Charge to Different Levels?

I've wondered about this for a long time: When I fully charge (the EVSE turns off) my '12 LEAF at different Level 2 EVSEs, the G-O-M shows a wide range of values (between 85mi. and 105mi.) when I first turn the car on. And, it appears that certain EVSEs uniformly yield a higher G-O-M range. The...

    End of Lease Strategies?

I don't see why you would do a vehicle inspection. The purpose of the inspection is to determine how much you might have to pay for car damage when you turn your car in. If you are going to extend the lease, just get the inspection at the end of the new end-of-lease date.

What about electric mowers and outboards?

Its great that so many folks have electric push mowers, but I'm looking at a lawn tractor. As far as I can see, there is still only one consumer-level choice, the Cub Cadet RZT S Zero (http://cubcadetrztszero.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). Looking online, I can't find any...

extending a lease more than once?

Turnover, thanks for the tip on dealing with the NMAC auto attendant! In the end, NMAC did send me a 12-month extension lease contract, which, on top of the first 6-month extension yields me a 3.5-year lease. It DOES seem that it just depends on who you talk to.

What about electric mowers and outboards?

Now that I've been happily driving a LEAF for a couple of years, I've been thinking about replacing my gas lawn tractor and my boat's gas outboard motor. Has anyone else pursued these items? I can only find one electric riding mower currently in production, the Cub Cadet RZT-S Zero. It looks...

    End of Lease Strategies?

Yes, the NMAC guy that I spoke to this morning expressly told me that it was a month-to-month contract, and he too gave me the two months free, unbidden.

extending a lease more than once?

When I FINALLY got through to an agent (the worst automated attendant system I've ever encountered!), they told me that the lease extension offer was for 12 months beyond the end of the original lease, so I was entitled to only 6 months more. However, he also told me of special offer that would...

So, does Nissan make a profit from the LEAF?

Interesting! I live less than 10 miles from Bickford Ford. I went in there a few months ago, asking about the Focus Electric, and they were totally clueless, claiming that Ford had no information regarding when or if the Focus would be available in WA during 2015. I also signed up to get emailed...

So, does Nissan make a profit from the LEAF?

Does anyone know if Nissan actually makes a profit from the sale of the LEAF? Clearly, LEAFs depreciate faster than Nissan anticipated, based on the lease residual value vs. advertised used LEAF prices. Also, clearly, manufacturers haven't jumped into the market very quickly. If there was...

    End of Lease Strategies?

A letter from NMAC arrived today: "Purchase your current LEAF and receive $6,000 off your lease payoff or you can extend your current LEAF lease by 12 months." Even $6,000 off the residual price of my 2012 would leave $15,814 which is higher than you can buy a comparable used LEAF. On the...
