Wholesale value of the 2013 Leaf @Auction-March '18

The low auction prices have resulted in much lower residuals on 2015 leases -- so leases now cost more than they did two years ago. I bought my most recent one but only because of discounts and rebates were substantial and I plan to keep this Leaf, so resale is less an issue. I also got 0%...

Commercial EVSEs: Is there a reliability/viability problem?

Between being blocked by an ICE, being vandalized, having maintenance issues, having a long line of EVs ahead of you, having an EV finished charging still parked in the way, being bad for EV battery life, and costing too much, I don't see commercial EVSEs being viable and I have never gone...

    Do you plan to buy/lease 30kWh MY16 Leaf ?

My current Leaf has more than enough range for my needs and will even as it loses capacity. Perfect city car.

    Turbocord help

Correct, you can't get 240 from a single breaker! I'm impressed that EVDRIVER pegged it right away!

    FIAT 500e

I found the ride on the FiatEV to be firmer than the Leaf with considerably more road noise. Made me appreciate how quiet the Leaf is.

    Turbocord help

If you aren't familiar with test a 240 volt circuit: you will get 120 volts between either hot and the ground, but should get 240 volts between the two hots. Let us know what you learn.

Is Nissan setting up a bad trend with buyout strategy?

Now that Nissan knows that resale values are low, their residuals have gone down on new leases and hence, lease prices up. Bottom line: If they don't offer the discounts off the residual then no one will buy their cars and they will lose even more at the auctions. As I stated elsewhere, had...

Original EV Project Blink EVSE SOLD

I already purchased a Clipper Creek. Maybe the thought that this can be fixed will spur someone to buy mine. As far as whether the cable on mine is the best for the money, if it isn't then someone will offer less, I'm willing to take the best offer--I'd rather all or part of this EVSE get used...

    Climate change divides oil CEOs

Simple explanation for this: There is no way the European CEOs could sell a preposterous claim that there is no global warming. Yet, in the U.S., the Republican party and the misinformation campaign make such a position politically viable.

Original EV Project Blink EVSE SOLD

I sold my EV Project Blink for $100, thanks. Mention it here so that anyone else knows what they are going for.

Rob, are you going to continue to document the Saab build?

    Blink intermittent failure

Mine has a self-check fault one out of about ten times and needs to be rebooted. If I am correct, i think both of us could solve the problem by converting them to the basic (dumb) EVSE without the computer. I'm sure someone with more expertise will have something to say on that. see...

Electronic Parking Brake failure $3,543 repair quote

I was very glad to see Nissan switch to the foot actuated PB. Who needs an electric one? I wonder if the foot lever can be retrofitted onto the 2011. It pulls a cable-- somebody had to be able to rig something up!

Toyota engineer: BEVs won't spread even with rapid chargers

I am an avid Leaf owner and supporter but I happen to agree, BEVs will not become mainstream. I enjoy mine, I advocate for them with my friends, but they are not for everyone. I see 100mpg hybrids as a much more practical long-term alternative... no range issues and less vehicle weight. The...

Wholesale value of the 2013 Leaf @Auction-March '18

Nissan offered me $4000 off residual for my 2013, that would be 17,800. Seems they should have offered more if they are getting so little at auction. I would have bought mine for $16,000 (SL premium). I had to contact them, I never received any offer until I called them.

New LEAF owner - 2013 SL - My Initial Questions

I would recommend that you charge to 80% if that provides enough capacity for your needs. Nissan eliminated the ability to specify 80% on the newest models-- but they did that to achieve a better EPA rating, not for valid engineering reasons. Beyond that I recommend just driving normally and...

Wholesale value of the 2013 Leaf @Auction-March '18

I just turned in my 2013 after 24 month lease. $4,000 off my residual was not enough. I would have bought it if they had given me 5,000. That would have brought it to $17,800 which is still high, but it was my own car and had low mileage.

Lease Experience in Seattle (Eastside, Younker)

I agree, the maintenance plan makes no sense at all. As stated, you get the first two battery checks free, so you can turn the car in at year three and have paid zero for service. OK, maybe a few dollars to get the tires rotated. You won't be neglecting anything, the car needs nothing else.

Is it a bad time to buy a leaf?

I had a 2011 and a 2013 and both depreciated significantly. Used Leafs in the Us are quite the bargain. I just bought a 2015, but it will clearly have a significant depreciation hit when the second generation comes out. If you are sure you will keep the car for a long time depreciation is not...
