    Considering a used leaf -- 2015 lizard, or 2016+ 30kWH?

Thank you all for the thoughts. I'm off this evening to look at a 2017 SL. 28K miles w/ all the options. Private party, original owner and he's not had the BMS update recall applied to it. See how it goes...

    Considering a used leaf -- 2015 lizard, or 2016+ 30kWH?

Yup -- I get that it's possible to game the capacity bars w/ possible BMS updates, etc. Is there a chart for the 30kWH battery showing expected real-world AHr targets to expect each capacity bar to drop? If I understand correctly, that's the only indication that remains true following a BMS...

    Considering a used leaf -- 2015 lizard, or 2016+ 30kWH?

My purchased-new 2012 SL was rear-ended and sold off this summer. We enjoyed it -- it's more-or-less a known quantity. I've read LeftieBiker's excellent used buying guide, and I'd like to hear the collective wisdom on this. Assume an 8 bar 24kWH pack would suffice for our foreseeable...

MY2014 no more 80% charge option?

Sorry for the threadsurrection here, but, was the 80% charge option (or similar) ever restored on later models, or is the option "gone for good"?

    PGE Rate calculation details

That's exactly what I do. I'll look at the other references. Thanks for pointing them out!

    PGE Rate calculation details

Thanks for the confirmation. I get the tiering usage. I didn't even consider this before your comment: take the data from the net-metering summary bill and plugging that directly into my program as a validation. "What forest, there's only a bunch of trees" :P The real problem is that...

    New PG&E EV rate schedule

BTW -- if any one is curious I find the new EV rate to be the most favorable compared to E1, E6, or E9a: http://foobert.com/temp/power.html Obviously, I have solar w/ net-metering. Top chart in the link above says it all. Your mileage will vary. I hope to one day release my program so other...

    New PG&E EV rate schedule

Thank you Ray. I skimmed through Schedule S, and clearly I should have studied it in detail.

    New PG&E EV rate schedule

Are you making the 1 megawatt statement based on Special Condition 5 or some other reference? Most residential solar will likely use net metering (NEM), therefore the exemption in #5 is not applicable. Curiously, I see similar schedule S requirements in the other residential rate plans, and it...

    New PG&E EV rate schedule

Has anyone noticed the fine-print in the EV schedule regarding "Standby reservation charges"? Special conditions 5 & 6: :?: Firstly, what exactly is a "standby reservation charge"? Can anyone translate special condition 6 into plain English?

    PGE Rate calculation details

I'm writing a program that downloads PGE Green Button data and calculates the bill for each of the available tariff options, with consideration of net-metering, etc. I've yet to find any detailed algorithm published on how exactly PGE performs its bill calculations. If anyone has such a...

Discuss data from the LEAF Battery app, and Comparisons

New "Leaf Battery App" user joining the party: Build: 2011-10 In service: 2011-11-13 Miles: 17.8K A bit disappointing since I own the car and have babied the battery as much as reasonably possible. Question about what data to believe. Drove into work this AM, here's the stats: Distance...

Electric aircraft taxiing system demonstrated in Paris

Hmmm... Let's just take a 737-800 at a landing weight of 64000Kg and a landing speed of 125 knots (64.3 M/s), a bit on the slow side for that weight... Anyway, that's a kinetic energy = 0.5*m*V^2 = 132 MJ = 132 MW seconds So, if you wanted to absorb just 1/3 of the kinetic energy through...

Phoenix Range Test Results, September 15, 2012

I think it's worth making it super easy for everyone to see what NTB11-076a is all about. Here's a link to the full document. And, here's the pertinent part that is the cause of much debate. Given the absence any authoritative data from Nissan stating what the minimum capacity of a new...

    My new charge schedule

Interesting problem to have; clever solution. This makes me want to double check that I understand how PG&E handles time-of-use pricing. No time like present to understand what I already committed to with my pending PV install.

Equiping a NEW house for EV's

If it were me, I'd add +100 amps to the service feed from the utility company (above what you'd normally put in for a house of your size). This will naturally increase the main panel amperage as well. It will cost you some money for the wiring + panel and possibly from your utility company...

    Gen 1 GM Volt Plug-In Hybrid (2011-2015)

A Volt passed me while accelerating up the freeway on-ramp. His license plate was: ------------ AMP*OHM ------------ The perfect gEEk plate. Incidentally, once we were on the freeway, my white sticker trumped his lead foot up the ramp. 8-)

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

 Hello Pot, this is Kettle. Yeah, guess what: your post has even less to do with capacity loss Contemplating selling my Leaf has everything to with capacity loss -- I cannot be the first to be thinking about. It's as much a statement about losing faith in Nissan and the Leaf as...
